  1. What is a CV? How to write a CV that works? CV-writing
  2. Main Fields in CV
    • Personal info r mation
    • Education, qualifications , skills
    • Career history, career summary
    • Achievements , additional information
    • Interests (optional)
  3. Personal information includes
    • Surname, Given Names
    • Date and Place of Birth
    • Nationality
    • Address, Telephone numbers, E-mail
    • Marital Status
    • Children if you have any (optional)
  4. Qualifications, Training
    • University, College, Vocational School
    • High School
    • Additional Training, Courses
    • ! Don’t forget to mention the dates of graduation and the length of studies as well as degrees and diplomas starting from the most recent.
  5. Career History
    • ! Start from the last occupation.
    • Employer – its field of activity, short profile.
    • Your occupation in the company – the tasks you performed, the number of subordinates you had.
    • The period you worked for the company (also months in addition to years).
  6. Additional information
    • Languages
    • Computer skills
    • Driving licence
    • Hobbies, interests
    • References (optional)
  7. Steps in preparing a CV:
    • Gather all the information you need.
    • Check with a friend if you missed any key achievements.
    • Look at examples of cv layouts.
    • Ask somebody for a second opinion, then alter if necessary.
    • Type it or have it typed.
    • Proof read the typed CV.
  8. Make sure your CV:
    • Does justice to your skills, abilities and qualifications
    • Is easy to follow
    • Clearly shows you meet the requirements of the job
    • Uses language you're comfortable with when talking about yourself
    • Shows you have researched the employer thoroughly.
  9. Questions You Can Ask Yourself:
    • Is the layout simple and clear?
    • Are there any typing errors?
    • Is it factually accurate?
    • Is the writing style concise and direct?
    • Does it have KEY achievements rather than everything you’ve ever done?
    • Is it one or two pages of length?
  10. Reasons for CV R ejection
    • Poor visual layout
    • Grammar mistakes
    • Overwritten paragraphs
    • CV too long
  11. What should I bear in mind?
    • Don’t overwrite your CV
    • Check the layout (plenty of white space)
    • Use short sentences
    • Give only the information that is relevant to the employer
  12. What else should I bear in mind?
    • First impressions matter !
    • Check the CV for spelling and grammar mistakes
    • Always print out your CV (unless required otherwise)
