  2. 2.  There are four types of sentences  They are based on purpose and structure  The four sentences based on structure are: Simple, Complex, Compound, and Compound- Complex
  3. 3.  By structure, simple sentences are made up of a single independent clause. Example Carmelo Anthony plays on the New York Knicks.
  4. 4.  By structure, compound sentences are made up of two independent clauses , connected by a coordinating conjunction. Example  Carmelo scored 31 points, but the Knicks still lost.
  5. 5. By structure, complex sentences contain one independent clause and at least one dependent clause. Example When Carmelo got injured badly, he had to go to the sidelines.
  6. 6.  By structure, compound-complex sentences contains at least two independent clauses and at least one dependent clause. Example If Carmelo played safer, my brother thought, I could sleep better at night.
