  • What is technology integration? Technology integration is the use of technology like etc. for teaching and learning
  • Why technology integration? The availability of new technology tools that can help the teacher in making teaching interesting and engaging The technology skills and knowledge that students gain in the classroom will create the foundation for the skills and knowledge they will need in the future. The decision of the National Curriculum Framework to use technology to support and extend curricular objectives
  • How does one integrate ? Make technology available and accessible Allow technology tools to support the curricular goals, and help the students to effectively reach these goals Incorporate students’ use of technology into meaningful activities in the lesson plans Ensure some key components of learning: active engagement, participation in groups, frequent interaction and feedback and connection to real-world experts
  • What are the benefits of technology integration? • A. Can engage and motivate the learner - Keeps students focused for longer periods of time. Makes students more excited to learn. Enables students to learn at their own pace.  Caters to different learning styles
  • What are the benefits of technology integration? •B. Can support new approaches to teaching/learning, like: Encouraging cooperative learning Developing problem solving and higher level skills Encouraging self learning Catering to multiple intelligences Different learning styles
  • What are the benefits of technology integration? Develops new skills, like: Tech tools for visualizing and modelling help students to experiment, observe and view experiments in graphic ways
  • What are the benefits of technology integration? Develops skills required for an information age, like: Children can express understanding through images, sound and text
  • How does it help the teacher? Helps in producing interesting, diverse and student friendly material Makes teaching interesting and fun Gives access to more information and ideas
  • How can teachers learn to integrate? Teachers need to learn : Different ways of meeting the curriculum goals The use of technology enabled methods of learning to make it an inherent part of the teaching learning process To evaluate and integrate the available material into the learning process Access, create and share knowledge
  • What are some potential pitfalls if not used well? • Too much information • Inability to choose relevant information • Overemphasis on information rather than investigation • Passive learning instead of active learning • Technology becoming a replacement for hands • on experience • Technology replacing a teacher
  • Get creative ! Technology is just another tool. Used judiciously and creatively, it can bring about a change in the teaching learning process.
