• 2. We Intend to FOLLOWThis Convention.
Film Name & Year of Release -
Having the Film name and year of release is conventional on Film Reviews. This information is then followed by the films genre and then its credits such as director, screenwriter, soundtrack and main actors.
• 3. We MightFOLLOWThis Convention.
Quotes -
Often a review begins with either a quote or reference from the actual film. This is utilized as a good introduction for the readeras is common in film reviews; although its not seen to be used as much in Short Films as they don’t have key ‘Quotes’ etc within them.
• 4. We Intend to FOLLOWThis Convention.
Intro & Summary -
It is very conventional for the first paragraph to contain a short summary of the film. Which will include aspects of the timeline, location and the actual narrative. This is often proceeded by a personal view of the film, from the Writers perspective.
• 5. We Intend to FOLLOWThis Convention.
Plot -
Its quite conventional that the second paragraph continues the synopsis of the film with emphasis placed on the actual plot of the film. However, there are usually few references to the ending, so to avoid ruining the film for readers that have yet to watch it.
• 6. We Intend to FOLLOWThis Convention.
Aspects +/-
Its quite conventional for the next paragraph to feature the positive aspects of the film itself. This often features a personal opinion of certain points of interest within the production. This often focuses on points such as – the story, setting, mise-en-scene, the effects used and the films music. This paragraph is then followed by one which focuses on the negative aspects of the film.
• 7. We MightFOLLOW This Convention.
Characters -
Its sometimes conventional for Short Film Reviews to Focus on the characters of the Short Film and explain their good and bad qualities. However, This isn’t always present in Short Film reviews because they have very little amount of characters.
• 8. We MightFOLLOW This Convention.
Ratings -
In Film Reviews it is conventional to summarise the review in the Final Paragraph giving a star rating out of 5. However, this isn’t as conventional in Short Film Reviews.
