  • 1. What is the Tongil Foundation?
    Tongil Foundation -- officially "Foundation for the Support of the Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity" -- is a nonprofit corporation established in 1963 under the laws of the Republic of Korea for the purpose of supporting the work of the Unification Church. It is a separate legal entity from the Unification Church, which is a religious organization founded in 1954.
    What does the Tongil Foundation do?
    Tongil Foundation manages a portfolio of assets in Korea for the purpose of generating funds to be used to further the work of the Unification Church and its affiliated organizations. In particular, Tongil Group is a group of for-profit corporations managed by Tongil Foundation. Perhaps the best known among these is Ilhwa Corp., which manufactures and distributes ginseng products to wholesale and retail markets. Another is YongPyong Resort, an all-season mountain resort in PyeongChang, Korea, which was recently chosen to host the 2018 Winter Olympics. 
    What is the governance structure of Tongil Foundation?
    Tongil Foundation is governed by a board of directors currently chaired by Mr. Kook Jin Moon, who serves in accordance with the desires of Rev. Sun Myung Moon.
