Aidmatrix is an international nonprofit that leverages solutions from industry to apply to humanitarian relief. It partners with over 40,000 organizations to mobilize over $1.5 billion in annual aid worldwide, impacting over 65 million people. Aidmatrix has launched a Global Centers of Excellence program to empower 10,000 people through technology education and jobs. The initial program focuses on the Slovakia/Eastern Czech Republic region through a partnership between Aidmatrix, Pontis Foundation, and Aptech Europe to provide two-year IT training programs.

14. What is Accenture Open Education?
Accenture Open Education will create a path for people
with an interest in and aptitude for IT to learn from world
class, online training and earn a certification which opens
doors to meaningful career opportunities.
Accenture Open Education is an open access, online training program aimed at
giving students and recent graduates the skills and knowledge they require to be
successful as entry level IT professionals in companies such as Accenture.
The program is co-created with one of the world’s leading technology institutions,
the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and provides training in
technology and professional development skills required for employment.
The training program prepares candidates for the industry relevant Software
Developer certification, offered through SPACES (Software Professional
Accreditation and Certification Examination Services), an affiliate of Carnegie
Mellon University.
Individuals who complete the training, earn the Software Developer Certification,
and meet our basic recruiting criteria gain a “ticket” into Accenture’s recruiting
process, or may choose to apply to other companies.

15. Curriculum Summary
Covers the fundamentals of computing – modules include History of
Computing
Computers, The Internet, Computing in the Business World, Computer
Programming Landscape.
Computer Teaches the theoretical framework for computer science together with
Science practical, interactive exercises in programming, using Javascript. This course
is designed and developed by faculty members from the MIT School of
Engineering.
Software Modules include Introduction to Software, Intro to the Software Development
Engineering Model and Process, Plan & Analyze, Design & Build, Test, and Maintain.
Professional Wide range of courses including Communicating for Results, Being an
Development Effective Team Member, Professional Presence, Networking and Staying

17. Accenture Open Education: Benefits to
Students
Why would a student decide to take the Accenture
Open Education?
• High quality training, created and endorsed by both academic and industry
experts, covering the technical and professional skills relevant to entry level
IT roles across the IT industry.
• Help in understanding the careers opportunities available in the IT industry
and how to be successful in finding a job.
• Eventually students will be able to go on to take the Software Developer
Certification: earn recognition for knowledge and skills gained via an
externally relevant certification which will help them in the job search
process with multiple IT companies. Not Presently Available.

18. Accenture Open Education Program Pilot
Accenture is piloting the full program with a select group
of participants between Nov 2012 and April 2013.
• Accenture is offering the opportunity to take the training curriculum and
take the certification to a select group of students across 8 countries
• Participants will be asked to take the 4 core training modules (Computing,
Computer Science, Software Engineering and Professional Development)
and provide feedback to Accenture on the course content and the online
platform. Participants may also take training in the 2 optional modules
(Careers and English Language).
• Participants will be asked to take an online assessment at the end of each
of the 4 core training modules.
• Participants who pass the online assessments will have the option to take
the Software Developer Certification exam, likely to take place either on
college or Accenture premises locally, however, in the pilot phase this
will be limited to participants in India, the Philippines, South Africa
and Mauritius. Full roll out of the exam will take place sometime after the
pilot.

19. What will pilot participants be asked to do?
In return for the opportunity to participate in this pilot
and be part of the very first batch of people to take the
training, we ask participants to commit to the following.
• Complete the training for the 4 core modules - Computing, Computer
Science, Software Engineering and Professional Development. The
estimated time to complete all training content is 240 hours; this assumes
that a participant goes through every module and completes all
recommended reading and offline exercises.
• Complete a short feedback survey at the end of every course, and a more
detailed survey at the end of the training program, to let us know how you
found the course content and the online platform.
• Participants will have from 15 November to 30 April to complete the
training.
• In terms of equipment, all you need is access to a PC and an internet
connection. Content may also be copied from Aptech Europe via USB
Drive (~500 MB).
