  6. 6. MUSICAL DIRECTORBorn in Puerto Rico, Louis Bauzo attended Julliard School of Music and studied in Africa,Cuba, and Puerto Rico. He has been a professional musician for over forty years. A memberof the Tito Puente Orchestra for seven years during the 1970’s, he has performed and/orrecorded with Dizzy Gillespie, Machito, Mario Bauza, Eddie Palmieri, Mongo Santamaria,Johnny Pacheco, Larry Harlow, Celia Cruz, Vicentico Valdez, Israel “Cachao” Lopez, HectorLavoe, Pete “El Conde” Rodriguez, Johnny Colon, Paul Simon, Joe Ellington, amongst others.He has extensive experience in theatre, film and television; Arthur Penns "Night Moves",Leon Ichasos "Crossover Dreams", Ang Lees "Eat, Drink, Man, Woman", "Kojak" and"Private Eye."Recognized as an expert in the performance of Afro-Caribbean ritual music, heis also the founder and Director of the "Patakin" and"Carambu" folkloric dance ensembleswhich performed as part of Caribbean Cultural Centers "Sacred Drums" Festival Tour(1991).Louis is the director of the the Latin Percussion Department as well as the Harbor Latin BigBand and curator of the "Raices Project Latin Music Museum and Archive” at the HarborConservatory for the Performing Arts in New York.
