Common Gases and Environmental Problems<br />Introduction<br />
This unit does not correlate to one chapter in the textbook.<br />Start a new section in your notebook titled: “Common Gases and Environmental Problems.”<br />
All notes, activities, and assignments are posted on Blackboard.<br />Complete all activities and assignments in order. <br />You may not be able to view the next assignment folder for three reasons.<br />You must complete certain assignments in a folder to be able to view the next folder. (Adaptive Release)<br />You must complete an assignment and earn a certain score to be able to view the next folder. Example: You must score 80% or higher on an online quiz.<br />Certain assignment folders may only be available starting on a certain date.<br />
Deadlines to complete assignments will be posted in “Announcements.”<br />You will work at your own pace as long as you meet deadlines posted in “Announcements.”<br />You may work on activities and assignments outside of class.<br />
Bring your calculators to class every day.<br />
Questions that we focus on and answer include:<br />What are common properties and uses of common gases?<br />What are the root causes of the following environmental problems?<br />Ozone depletion / the ozone hole<br />Acid rain<br />Global warming<br />What gases produced by human activities cause environmental problems?<br />What are common alternative energy sources and how could their use minimize human impact on the environment?<br />
