  4. 4. Attend Student Tracks Nontraditional career paths in dietetics: Example: Supermarket Dietitian  Leadership Seminar  Set yourself up To Earn the Internship  Job Searches in Social Media  How Supermarket Dietitians Build Bridges to Impact Community Health 
  5. 5. The World is Your Oyster Rebecca Subbiah RDN, LDN spoke on how “The world is your oyster.”  Put yourself out there, use social media to your advantage. Be real and genuine, and great things will happen.  Find your niche – don’t be afraid to make mistakes.  Have fun and be YOU. 
  6. 6. Practice Applications Consider starting a blog if you want to practice writing, maybe volunteer to write newsletters.  Write a professional twitter Bio and network. Join in with #Rdchat #foodiechats, and connect with students using #Rs2be  Approach RD’s you admire in your desired field and see if they will mentor you. 
  7. 7. Continued Join a DPG: Nutrition Entrepreneurs for example.  Surround yourself with people who see the best in you and encourage and uplift you. 
  8. 8. And also attend the other sessions! Step out of comfort zone and experience other sessions.  Examples:   The Double- Edged Sword: Providing MNT for Diabetes and Chronic Kidney Disease  Moving Beyond Antioxidants: Making Phytochemicals a Prescription for Health  Advanced Clinical Nutrition Practice Today

  11. 11. Internship Fair GREAT opportunity to meet FTF with potential future internship directors  Very cool experience  Meet and talk with all schools of interest and see what programs are out there and what they offer in a one on one conversation  Bring resume 
  12. 12. Internship Fair  Obtaining an internship in this competitive landscape can be difficult these days. The student internship fair, hosted by NDEP, is designed to help students meet and network with dietetic internship directors from all over the United States. Over 100 internships will have faculty and/or interns available to discuss their program and admission criteria, and to distribute program handouts or brochures.
