    • Edinburgh - is the capital of Scotland, the largest city by area and the second largest by population in the country, located in the south-east of Scotland.
    • HistoryHumans have settled the Edinburgh area in the Bronze Age, leaving traces of primitive stone settlements. Edinburgh began to grow in XII century, when David I moved the royal court to Edinburgh Castle.
    • Museums of Edinburgh• National Gallery of ScotlandIt is the oldest in the region an art gallery, located in the heart of Edinburgh. The gallery features a rich collection of European painting and sculpture
    • • Museum of writers The museum exposition presents the life and work of the great Scottish writers and poets: Sir Walter Scott, Robert Burns, Robert Louis Stevenson and others.
    • • Museum of childhoodThe museum presents a large collection of childrens toys (from dolls to tricycles) from all over the world.
    • The Edinburgh FestivalIt is an official festival for theatre, opera and classical music, and the «Fringe» festival. The Edinburgh Festival dates back to 1947.
    • On the «Fringe» festival you can see a large variety of plays, films, comedians, dance companies and concerts. The main feature of the festival is that there is no selection of participants.
    • Finally, there is the Military Tattoo, a military parade held in Edinburgh Castle. In the parade take a part military bands from around the world, drummers, pipers, singers, acrobats and procession of cheerleaders.
    • SportEdinburgh has two professional football clubs – Heart of Midlothian and Hibernian. They are known locally as Hearts and Hibs, and both teams currently play in the Scottish Premier League.
