  • 1. In what ways does your media productuse, develop or challenge forms andconventions of real media products?
  • 2. My media product initially tried to challenge theconventions of real media products as it I triednot to use conventional tools related to mygenre, however while creating my product I wascompelled into following conventions as manyof the tools created the integrity for my themeand without it, would cause my audience to failat identifying my genre thus failing to portraymy media product correctly
  • 3. My chosen genre was horror comedy I chosethis specific genre because I wanted to challengemyself and do a duo genre.
  • 4. Even though my genre was horror comedy, ithad a strong zombie theme at heart, whichmany people would classify as a zombie comedyrather than a horror comedy however I choice tostill stick with it being a horror comedy with azombie theme.
  • 5. conventions of zombie films is that there is usuallyan a zombie apocalypse with the human race indanger of being extinct and they are few survivorswho come together; the lead role (usually a man)an attractive female, a generic moron, a “bad ass”and other who are there for certain doomed or tobe turned, this also include friends and families
  • 6. However my production challenge this conventionwhen it come to the zombie aspect of things, mymedia product is not set in any apocalyptic event andwhere in conventions of real media they are athousands of zombies my product only has one, whichgive her an importance. This is a unique trait aszombie are seen more to have a collectivist naturerather than individualistic
  • 7. On the other hand it does follow the conventionof the contagious bite or feeding of a zombiewhich turns the victims into a zombie
  • 8. Conventions of Horror Comedy• Unexpected Situation• Ordinary characters• A Source of Fear
  • 9. In my production they is a unexpected situation iswhere my characters’ girlfriend is a zombie and he hasto deal with the facts and also with the reaction of hispeers likewise with real media product ‘Shaun of thedead’ Shaun has to deal with the realisation of anapocalypse and survive it. it evidential that I amfollowing this aspect of conventions concerninghorror comedy.
  • 10. Most of my main characters are ordinary as theyare average day to day characters with nothingreally special about them this followsconventions of real media concerning horrorcomedy
  • 11. • A source of fear is also included as my zombieeats the brain of her boyfriend’s best friend.
  • 12. SETTINGS
  • 13. • I set my production in a modern house whichwas normal house inside and out, this followthe convention of horror comedy as it links tounexpected events in unusual environment
  • 14. • The music I used did not go with what was goingon in my scene to add the comedic side of things ,this is ironic and was purposely done because it isa part of comedy and postmodern. I got my ideato use the Michael Jackson thriller song in mymovie because it related to the fact I was usingzombies, I got this from the film Americanwerewolf in London, where the soundtrack islinked to the werewolf theme. For exampleBobby Vinton’s version of Blue moon, VanMorrison’s moon dance and bad moon rising. Also like my film AWIL uses happy songs inbad/weird situations
  • 15. • Normally in horror comedy convention evenwhen the main character is the villain, themain focus of the plot is the followed lives ofthe victims of the said antagonist, however,my production follows the life of theantagonist mostly and sees life in her point ofview
  • 16. In horror comedy usual conventions regardingcharacters is that females are seen as weak ditsydamsel in distress that need saving by theremale counter-part because the have been takeng by the antagonist
  • 17. I challenge that convention by making thefemale the monster, who is attacking and takingthe man as hostage and making him the‘damsel’, however it only challenges old ageconvention concerning females, new age filmslike Jennifer’s body and the exorcist haveopened a gateway for evil female characters tobe the monsters.
  • 18. Conventions of a teaser trailer
  • 19. From my threes analysis of my teaser trailers, I notice therewas production companies on each one, right at thebeginning, so I followed this convention and came up with aproduction company and put it in the beginning.Real Media Production CompaniesMy Media ProductionCompany
  • 20. All the title of the films’ namein the teaser trailer came nearthe end, this is anotherconvention I followed as I alsodid this with my film names atthe near endReal MediaMy Media Products’ Name
  • 21. The date of the real media product always came at the endI follow this, however I didn’t give a date but still followedconvention by saying coming soon.
