  2. 2. T Beam  Slabs are monolithically casted with beams in positive moment zone  Part of the slab act as a part of the beam  Resist the longitudinal compression
  3. 3. Singly Reinforced  Reinforcement is provided in tension zone only
  4. 4. Doubly Reinforced  Concrete can not develop the required compressive force to resist the maximum bending moment  Reinforcement is provided in both compression and tension zone.
  5. 5. T-Beam Section • T- Beam are designed as singly reinforced
  6. 6. WSD Design  Members are design to carry actual/service loads such that stresses of materials will be within elastic/allowable stress limit.  The allowable stress limit of concrete and steel are ½ of compressive strength and ½ of yield strength respectively.
  7. 7. Moment Capacity Determination  Calculate, b(effective)  Calculate ,  Check that kd>t or kd<t; If kd>t then beam will be analyzed as T-beam  Calculate ,  Calculate,M= Asfsjd  Calculate actual stress,  Check, fc (actual)< fc(allowable)
