    • Joe was first elected to the senate in 1972
    • He is the 47 th president of the senate
    • He was the sixth youngest senator
    • In 2008 he ended his sixth term
    • He was elected on January 20 th 2009 to start his seventh term
    • He will be up for re-election in November of 2013
    • In 1972 his wife and his one year old daughter died in a car wreck he also has 3 other sons

    • He has served nine terms and is up for re-election in November 2009. he was first elected in the senate in 1959 and has served the longest in the senate
