  2. 2. A National Anthem is a song that represents a country.The National Anthem for the United Kingdom and NorthernIreland is, “God Save the Queen”.It is a very old anthem, dating from 1745.
  3. 3. It is sung when the Queen is attending an event and also onmajor sporting events, for example during the Olympic goldmedal ceremony and when a national sports team playsanother nation.
  4. 4. It is expected that people stand up to sing the NationalAnthem as a mark of respect for the Queen.There are 5 verses but we really only sing the first verse
