Family Services and Treatment Levy Issue 4
Issue 4
On November 3, voters in Hamilton County will vote on Issue 4, the Family Services and Treatment Levy.
Issue 4 provides essential funding for drug prevention, treatment and recovery services in the county.
These services have been funded for 20 years through the levy known as the Health & Hospitalization (Drake) Levy. The Drake Levy will expire, but it is essential that these programs continue with funding from the Family Services and Treatment Levy.
Taxes
Issue 4 will NOT raise taxes.
In fact, it will cost 50 percent less than the existing levy.
The .34 mill levy will cost the owner of a $100,000 home $10.09 a year.
Benefits of Issue 4
Provides a safety net of services for individuals and families
Provides neighborhood-based prevention services that reduce teenage drug and alcohol use
Provides judges with alternatives at sentencing so that people who need help can be given treatment instead of being sent to jail or facing no consequences
Saves approximately 300 jail beds per day
Funded Programs
Issue 4 will help an estimated 15,000 people access prevention, treatment, transitional housing and reentry services from:
Central Community Health Board (CCHB)
Cincinnati Union Bethel
Coalition for a Drug-Free Greater Cincinnati
First Step Home
Hamilton County’s Drug Court
Pretrial Services and Sheriff’s Department
Prospect House
Talbert House
What Happens if the Levy Fails?
Treatment services will not be provided to those with critical needs.
Additional stress will be placed on Hamilton County’s budget.
