  • 2. Mixing Your Own Baby Formula Recipe All parents should be concerned with what substances are entering their child’s body. With formula, you know that the baby is getting the nutrition that it needs, but store bought formula can be expensive and make parents wary as to where it comes from. The FDA holds up standards for all commercial formula mixes, so all of the different brands are pretty much the same. But if you want to save money and know exactly what is entering your child’s system, you can mix your own baby formula recipe.
  • 3. Which Baby Formula Recipe Is Right For You? It all depends on the ingredients that you have around or what you want to focus on giving your baby. There is a milk based baby formula recipe, a liver based baby formula recipe, and a fortified commercial baby formula recipe. Make a baby formula sample in order to see how well these recipes work.
  • 4. Milk Based This baby formula recipe is used to give to a baby that for some reason cannot be breastfed. This focuses on all the most important nutrient that the baby should get from the mother’s milk, but cannot. To make this baby formula recipe, you will want to mix together the following: 2 teaspoons coconut oil, 2 teaspoons Frontier brand nutritional, yeast flakes, 2 teaspoons gelatin, 1 7/8 cups filtered water , 1/4 teaspoon acerola powder, 2 cups whole milk, preferably unprocessed milk from pasture-fed cows,

Find Online Resources 1/4 cup homemade liquid whey, 4 tablespoons lactose, 1/4 teaspoon bifidobacterium infantis , 2 or more tablespoons good quality cream , 1 teaspoon regular dose cod liver oil or 1/2 teaspoon high-vitamin cod liver oil, 1 teaspoon expeller-expressed sunflower oil, and 1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil. Some of the ingredients may be hard to find, but you can find online resources that will give you the information that you need.
  • 6. Liver Based This is another baby formula recipe, but this one focuses on saturated fats. Mix together the following: 3 3/4 cups homemade beef or chicken broth, 2 ounces organic liver, cut into small pieces (freeze for 2 weeks first), 5 tablespoons lactose , 1/4 teaspoon bifidobacterium infantis , 1/4 cup homemade liquid whey, 1 tablespoon coconut oil, 1 teaspoon cod liver oil or 1/2 teaspoon high-vitamin cod liver oil, 1 teaspoon unrefined sunflower oil, 2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil, and 1 teaspoon acerola powder.
  • 7. Fortified Commercial Recipe The third baby formula recipe is the fortified commercial recipe. This adds an organic egg (1 large) and cod liver oil (1 tsp.) to a milk based powdered formula. Many people use this when homemade baby formula recipes are not available.
