    1. 1. INGRID VISSER,MARINE BIOLOGIST, AUTHOR
    2. 2. Marine biology/Author• The study of aquatic organisms. Marine biologists study plants and animals that live in sea water, and their relationships with each other in their environment.• Science seeks to publish papers to advance scientific understanding. Submissions come from all fields of science and from any source and are published online and in magazines and books.

Ingrid Natasha Visser• Born on 20th February 1966 at Lower Hutt, Wellington, New Zealand.• Is a marine biologist known for studying orcas.• Both her parents were Dutch Immigrants who came to New Zealand in the 1950s.• She has a younger sister called Monique.• In 1986, Visser sailed with her parents and her sister on a yacht around the world and visited more than 40 countries.•
    4. 4. • Visser hold 3 university degrees,• Bachelor of Science, (Massey University)• Masters of Science, (Auckland University)• and Doctorate of Philosophy (Auckland University)• Her research on Orca has been published in international scientific journals.• In 2002 Vissers research was instrumental in the New Zealand governments reclassification of New Zealand Orca from "common" in NewZealand Threat Classification System to "Nationally Critical". This is the equivalent status of "Critically Endangered" in the internationally recognized IUCN Red Data Listing.

Publications• she has published numerous popular- style articles and her photographs have appeared in various magazines such as National Geographic,BBC Wildlife and New Zealand Geographic.• Visser has written an autobiography (Swimming with Orca) and two childrens books (I love killer whales &The Orca).• She has published the first ever maunuscript on Papua New Guinea orca and returns there regularly to conduct field research.

    7. 7. • She is a member of the Australia and New Zealand branch of the Explorers Club and continues to travel the world in search of Orca.• Visser has appeared in documentaries featuring her research with orca, such as Discovery Channels "Killers I have Known" (1998), Animal Planets "Untamed & uncut : Killer Whales Attack a Seal" and "Call of the Killer Whale"(2005).
