  • 5. Question 1(b) – Merit & Excellence  M – Identifies more than one reason for increasing significance OR ONE reason supported with specific information from the resource  “d” in the margin  E – More than one reason for increasing significance identified in detail with clear understanding of national significance  “c” in the margin
  • 6. Question 1(c) & (d)  A (c) – Location is given in general terms – “s” in the margin  M (c) – Accurate description given including grid reference/distance/direction from another place – “d” in the margin  A (d) – ONE reason suggested – “s” in the margin  M (d) – TWO reasons suggested – “d” in the margin  Both questions to Merit level only
  • 7. Question 1(d) – possible answers  Sheltered water  Enclosed bay away from currents  Away from main settlements  Accessible at low water  Away from shipping channels

  • 9. Question 2 (a)  Not done well!  Mapping conventions required: ◦ Statistical map used/a LOCATED graph ◦ Correct type of graph – bar graph or proportional circles ◦ Axes – same scale for each graph ◦ Key used to show difference between oysters and finfish ◦ Title includes potential areas for finfish and oysters in Northland BY HECTARE ◦ Accuracy
  • 10. Question 2 (a) continued…  A – 3 of the mapping conventions (s)  M – 4 of the mapping conventions (d)  E – 5 of the mapping conventions (c)  Achievement maximum if a statistical map not used
