    • Shuffle
      • The cards are shuffled in order ensure the arrangement is random
    • Dealing
      • The process of distributing cards to all the players is known as dealing
    • Open Card
      • Once 13 cards are dealt to each player, a card is kept face up and visible to all players. This card is the open card
    • Closed Deck or Stock Pile
      • After the dealer distributes 13 cards to each player, the remaining cards are known as the Closed Deck or Stock Pile
    • Open Deck or Discard Pile
      • Discarded cards are kept face up in a pile next to the open deck. This is the discard pile or open deck

    • In a typical rummy game, 1 joker from each deck is used as part of the game
      • After dealing all the cards, a randomly chosen card is kept face up and is the second joker
      • Example
      • If ‘7’ is selected as joker, all ‘7’s are considered as jokers.
      • In the game there would be a total of 9 jokers
      • (2 jokers and seven ‘7’s)

    • Picking a card
      • A player whose plays first can choose to pick either the open card or a card from the closed deck
      • In every turn, a player needs to pick up a card either from the stock pile or from the discarded pile
    • Discard
      • After a player picks up a card, she should discard any one of her cards and place it face up in the discard pile
      • The pile formed from discarded cards is called the discard pile or open deck

    • Drop
      • Any player can decide to drop from the game before his/her turn comes
      • Initial Drop
        • If the player drops the game in the very beginning without picking up a single card, it is an initial drop.
      • Middle Drop
        • If the player drops the game after having picked up one or more cards, it is considered a middle drop.
    • Closing Card
      • The card which is kept face down before a player shows his hand to declare a victory is known as the closing card

    • Show
      • If a player is successful in arranging all his 13 cards as per the rules then its “show” time!
      • A player needs to close one card from his lot (14 cards) and place it open after showing all his 13 cards to other players
      • In order to show the cards, click on the card you wish to close. The show button gets activated
      • The card selected when you click show is automatically made the closing card

    • Life or Pure Sequence (Life1)
      • It should be the order of not less than three cards of the same suite. Life1 shouldn't have a Joker
    • Second Life or Second Sequence (Life2)
      • It must be a sequence of at least three cards of the same suite. Life 2 may or may not have a joke r
    • The joker stands for either a 9 heart or Q heart

    • Deadwood
      • All cards that do not form runs or sets are considered as deadwood
      • In the case of a show, the player must mandatorily have Life1 and Life2
      • Failing to have Life1, all cards are considered as deadwood
      • Failing to have Life2, all cards but the Life1 are considered as deadwood.
    • Count
      • The total score of the deadwood is referred to as count
      • Count gets accumulated with each game
      • The maximum count a player can get in a game is 80 which is also known as full count!

    • In order to have a winning combination, the player must have a Life, second life and other sets or runs
    • Different combinations for a win
      • 2 runs of 3, a set or run of 3, a set or run of 4
      • One run of 3, one run of 4, 2 sets or runs of 3
      • One run of 5, one run of 4, one set or run of 4
      • Two runs of 5, one set of 3

    • The details include
    • Table Id, Amount Type, Entry Fee, Min Players, Number of Players
    • Next to each room, there is a ‘Join’ button. Click it to enter the game room and automatically become a spectator
      • In order to participate in the game, you need to sit at the table by clicking on the ‘SIT’ button on any chair
    • Once you click this button, your details including your avatar are displayed as sitting on the chair
    • Once there are enough players on the table, the game begins

    • In Indian Rummy
      • There should be at least one RUN or a SET without a joker which sometimes is considered as a ‘Life1’
      • Another RUN or SET is mandatory which may or may not include a joker is called as ‘Life2 ’
    • If the cards in the stock pile are used up, apart from the top card, all other cards in the discarded pile and those cards that were in early drops are mixed and shuffled to form a new stock pile
    • After the game concludes, the dealer will tally up the value of each player’s unmatched cards (i.e. deadwood) and players are scored with points for deadwood (given a count)
    • The winner earns ZERO as count

    • Players can play a single hand but can also keep dealing the cards for subsequent games until
      • one reaches a previously agreed target score
      • or until they play a fixed number of deals
      • or until a set amount of time has elapsed
    • There are also some additional points that some players use while calculating their scores.
      • Drop Points before picking a card (1st Drop): 20
      • Drop points if player had picked a card in that game (Middle Drop): 40
      • Maximum/penalty points in a game like in case of wrong show: 80
      • The max count a player can attract in a game is 80
