  1. 1. Slide SummaryI. AboutII. Interiors of EarthIII. What is Soil ??IV. Formation of SoilV. CrustVI. More about CrustVII. Formation of CrustVIII.More about Formation of CrustIX. Picture GalleryX. Quiz Time
  2. 2. The Interiors of Earth comprises of Soil, Earth & Crust.
  3. 3. SUMMARY OF INTERIORS OF EARTH Crust Outer layer Consist of heavy metals 1/250 of earth mass 25 miles thick Mantle CoreMiddle & thickest layer Very hotComposed of hot, dense rocks. 1/3 of the earth’s massRocks flows like asphalt Outer Core: Iron & Nickel in2/3rd of the earth’s mass liquid state; 1400 miles thick1800 miles thick Inner Core: Iron & Nickel in solid state; 800 miles thick
  4. 4. What is Soil ??The upper layer of earth in which plants grow, a black or dark brown material is known as Soil.
  5. 5. Formation of Soil
  6. 6. CrustNow , Let’s learn about the Earth’s crust. The crust of the Earth is composed of a great variety of igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks. This drawing shows the Crust, Upper Mantle, Mantle, Outer Core, Inner Core.
  7. 7. What is Crust ?? • opppppThe Earths crust is an extremelythin layer of rock, like the skin ofan apple in relative terms. Itamounts to less than half of 1percent of the planet .
  8. 8. Formation of Crust
  9. 9. Formation of Crust Crust is formed along boundaries betweentectonic plates which are moving apart. Most crustcreation takes place on the ocean floor at the mid-ocean ridges. As the plates move apart, solidifyingmagma rises, filling fractures and openings createdby the divergence. Some lava also spills out intothe seawater, creating pillow basalts on theseafloor. The entirety of the oceanic crust has, andis, being created in this manner.
