    1. FYP Guidelines Multimedia Computing Programme Syahrul Nizam Junaini Programme Coordinator (Multimedia Computing) FCSIT, UNIMAS
    2. Two Types 1. System/application development – Games, animation, flash, edutainment. – Most projects do not have the database component. – Do not implement any algorithm from CG field. 2. Research-based – Image analysis and processing. – Implementation of CG algorithms. – Sound and video post-processing.
    3. Database and Programming • Game project still can include the usage of a database: – for score/player ranking – to store MM components for scene rendering • Replace the database component with creativity criteria. • Flash Programming (script), VRML, XML etc.
    4. Creativity and Interactivity • Should include some novel creative elements. • Original drawing/sketching. • Fully interactive and fun. • Immersive applications (VR, AR). • Broadcast-quality 2D/3D animation.
    5. Computing Research Part • To propose a system/tools to ease/speed up the multimedia application/design. • To differentiate between FCSIT and FACA students/project • Focus on technical, not on creativity.
    6. Proposed Solution – FYP1 Programme level proposal vetting • Topics need to be discussed at the programme level first. • To give feedback on the proposed topics. OR List out the topics • Students can ONLY pick topics from supervisors. Poster Session and Correction • Poster session alone seems to be not really effective.
    7. FYP2 - Proposed Assessment – Form E1&2 Table 2: Presentation of Prototype (60%) (i) Prototype (system developed) (50%) • Functionality, programming – 20% • Database, engine, user tasks, admin task – 10% • Navigation, interaction – 10% • Interface, aesthetics, usability, quality – 10% (ii) Project Management & Question-Answer Session (10%) • Clarity of justifications/rationales (5%) • Project contribution (5%)
