During this process, identify the following:  Which areas are already well- established.  Which areas are being ignored.Identify your Niche.  What potential opportunities are available for your new publishing business.  What existing business can attached to this new publication.
  • 5.  Whom might be your target reader.+  Is this a trade pub or a consumer publication?  How large of a readership market are you going to seek.  International, National, Regional, State- wide, City-wide, Hyper-local?Your reading public.  What type of content will a reader bestBased on your niche market. respond too?  What type of readership will potential advertisers like or what? To Do: As a reader of your publication, what would you expect?
  • 6.  How passionate are you to this topic?+  Whats the feasibly of being able to cover this topic?  What existing products are similar to your blog concept?  Whos going to actually write articles?  Manage the editorial calendar?  Whos going to build and manage the actual website  What happens if it goes down unexpectedly?Ok, now…. Stop.  What type of frequency are you planning to publishInitial questions to ask yourself. material?  Once a Month? Week? As news happens?  Whats the risk… Whats in it for you? To Do: Build your business assessment.
