Building a computer from scratch

  1. 1. Building a Computer from Scratch 1. Make a list of the components that you need to build a desktop computer. You will need to include the OS and any other applications into the price of the computer. Also, keyboard and mouse should be included in the price. Monitor and printer will not be part of the price, you can choose one monitor and printer to go with all 3 computer builds. Use desktop motherboards, so make sure you are not using a server motherboard. 2. You will be building 3 different desktop computers a. Economical PC for Word Processing and Email (under $500) b. Middle of the road PC ($800-$1000) c. The Ultimate PC for gaming and/or high end graphics such as CAD ($1500+) 3. Use a website that sells computer components to price and part out your computer such as a. www.newegg.com b. www.tigerdirect.com c. www.frys.com d. Mwave.com 4. Using a word processing program or a spreadsheet, create a table with the component categories, cost, brand name of component, and website used.
