CONSTRUCTION PROCESS <ul><li>1st - Cut a hole around 7 centimeters in diameter slightly off-center on the top of an shoe box. </li></ul><ul><li>2nd - Push 12 brass fasteners into the shoe box, placing six on one end and six on the other end. (Space the brass out evenly). </li></ul><ul><li>3rd - Cut six rubber bands in half so they become six long rubber band strings. </li></ul><ul><li>4th - For each rubber band string, tie one end to a brass, then stretch it across the hole, tying the other end to the opposite brass. </li></ul><ul><li>5th - Cut open an empty toilet paper roll, and slip it underneath one side of the strings, lifting them up slightly. </li></ul>

CONSTRUCTION PROCESS <ul><li>First: Cut a piece of waxed paper of 30 square centimeters. </li></ul><ul><li>Second: Place the waxed paper across the opening of an empty container. </li></ul><ul><li>Third: Stretch a rubber band across the top of the waxed paper. </li></ul><ul><li>Fourth: P ull the waxed paper to make it taut. </li></ul>

Pan Pipes <ul><li>The pan flute or pan pipe is an ancient musical instrument based on the principle of the closed tube, consisting usually of five or more pipes of gradually increasing length </li></ul><ul><li>MATERIALS AND TOOLS : </li></ul><ul><ul><li>PVC tube </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>A saw </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Clay (argila o plastilina) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Packing Tape </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Permanent marker </li></ul></ul>
  7. 7. CONSTRUCTION PROCESS First: Will get a piece of PVC tube, then mark and c ut 5 pieces with these measurements (in centimeters) : 31 28 25 21 18

The pipe can only make noise if there is a bottom surface to bounce off. </li></ul>Pipe with open end – air just goes out the bottom Pipe with closed end – air hits to the bottom and begins to vibrate producing a pitch 
  9. 9. <ul><li>To close off the end of your pipe : Take a small piece of clay and drop into pipe that is sitting upright on a piece of paper. Use a stick, to press the clay firmly into the bottom. Twist slightly as you pick up the pipe and check the bottom to be sure the pipe is sealed completely. </li></ul>Paper to keep clay from sticking to table pipe clay Push clay down firmly, without pulling up on pipe. Third: Tape pipes together carefully. <ul><ul><ul><li>Tear off (arrancar) a piece of tape at least twice as long as the five pipes are wide. </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Lay on table sticky side up. </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Carefully place the pipes on the center of the tape with the open end to the top. </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Fold (doblegar) tape over the pipes and pull them together tightly. (amb força) </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Use a permanent marker to label the pipes as shown. You can label on tape or pipe. Be careful to label them correctly.   11. 11. How to play your pan pipes. <ul><li>Place the pipes vertically just below your bottom lip. </li></ul><ul><li>Blow air down into the pipe. Do this by pulling your bottom lip back. Practice, without the pipes by trying to blow air onto your chin. </li></ul><ul><li>Be careful to frequently stop trying and breathe naturally so you don’t get light headed. </li></ul><ul><li>DO NOT hold the pipes horizontally. </li></ul>Horizontal Vertical
