UTAH<br />In 2007, the Utah State Office of Education created a Master Plan for English language learners<br />Plan includes:<br />Goals for ELLs, educators and families<br />High expectations for ELLs<br />Educator Quality<br />Community and family involvement<br />Data and program effectiveness<br />
  6. Are you endorsed?<br />CCSD does not require an ESL endorsement for<br /> teachers who teach ESL students.<br />Although it is strongly recommended.<br />Utah requires educators to have an ESL endorsement if <br />they provide instruction in language acquisition to<br />ELL students.<br />
  7. Academic Proficiency <br />
  8. Community Support<br />Is important to both educational institutions<br />
  9. SIOP<br />Both Utah and Clark County School district utilize the<br /> SIOP Model.<br />
  10. Family Involvement<br />YES!!!!<br />
  11. ESL<br />Utah educators are better prepared to serve English as a Second Language learners<br />Only because we are supported by Utah legislature<br />
  12. Money MoneyMoney<br />Funding in Utah<br />Though Utah is the one of the lowest<br />In per pupil spending, Utah education leaders have learned how to make the money go further. <br />
  13. Diagnostic Tests in Nevada<br />Placement Tests are conducted in English<br />Utah – Placement tests are supposed<br /> to be conducted in native language and<br /> target language (English)<br />
