Next) This next Feel-Good List is all about rediscovering the real you. Take another moment now to jot down what you like, what makes your heart sing and all the things you love doing. Think of all the things that you used to really enjoy doing. Now see how you can introduce some things into your life that would give you the same good feelings that you enjoyed in the past. Can you make a commitment to yourself to do one new thing from this list every week, or whenever it feels good for you to do so?Most of us would enjoy having more fun in our lives. When we take a moment to actually think about what would pepper our days with more fun, and then intentionally take the time to enjoy those things, we are enriching our lives. Why is this so useful from a work perspective? Because when you feel happier in your home life that shifts how you feel in general, it lets inspiration to flow, it helps you solve problems, it helps you come across better in client and sales meetings. It means you are likely to have more fun and become a positive influence on everyone else at work so that the working environment becomes even more pleasant, productive and inspired.
So your thoughts affect your feelings and your energy levels.When you have full energy flowing you feel so good!And when every individual within your team has full energy flowing what a difference your team can make to your company!Do you remember the analogy of the damn and sluice gates? What is important here is to have as many sluice gates for each individual open as possible …and we will now show you how….
Now, take a new piece of paper and list down all the things you do that make up your usual daily routines, both at home and at work. List each routine on a new line. For example, Wake up to the alarm / Have a shower / Get dressed / Run out the house / Etc. / Shower at night / Fall into bed Next, rate how good you feel about each of these activities that make up your daily routine, where 10 feels great and 0 feels bad. Then take a moment to look at all the activities that you have given a low score and see how you can either change what you do or change how you feel about what you do. For example, if you hate being in such a rush in the morning, try waking up ten minutes earlier so that you can relax in bed before getting out and starting your day. If you hate the sound of your alarm clock then buy a new one that doesn’t make you wake up feeling stressed. If you hate the morning commute to work or tidying up your home, then look for ways to make this more fun and enjoyable. For some people this might mean listening to some comedy sketches in your car and it might mean tidying and cleaning your home while dancing and singing to music!If you have come up with any ideas that you would like to try out please write them down on your Feel-Good Plan. (GIVE OUT THE HAND-OUT CALLED FEEL-GOOD PLAN)GROUP DISCUSSION Note to facilitator: Go round the group and ask each one to share if there is an aspect of their daily routine that they can see how they can improve. If anyone has an aspect of their routine that they don’t like and they cannot see a way of improving it….the group may like to brainstorm a few ideas to help that person see the problem from a new perspective and give some ideas on how to make the routine more enjoyable.
