Vancouver, BC, has enjoyed top ranking as the Economist Intelligence Unit's number one most liveable city in the past ten years, but in the EIU's annual survey published in last month in August, Melbourne, Australia, topped the list. In a related but smaller separate survey, Monocle magazine bestowed their number one ranking to Helsinki in their publication's Quality of Life Top 25 most liveable cities survey. That report was published in Monocle's July/Aug 2011 issue. Here's an at-a-glance look at the EIU's top 10 in the attached infographic.

Melbourne, Australia, Culture & Entertainment 95.1 100 90has earned the top position in this year’s 2011 survey. By comparison, Monocle’s annual Education 100 100 91.7Quality of Life survey bestowed the number one spot to Helsinki which is EIU’s number 7.
