The world we live in The World is Flat ● 3 billion new workers from India, China and – Russia have entered the global workforce They are educated, highly skilled and – extremely ambitious China has discovered capitalism ● India is leveraging the Internet ● Everybody's job is at risk! Example: a North – American engineer can lose his job to Indian engineers working for 1/5 the salary

The world we live in Three major global forces: D.O.A. ● Digitization: knowledge and expertise are – increasingly captured in digital format, readily deployable over the Web Outsourcing: cheap labor in developing – countries puts pressure on companies to eliminate or outsource jobs Automation: repetitive or routine tasks and – services are delegated to expert systems and computers
    5. Key challenges How do I design and build a career that is ● sustainable, given the global trends of digitization, outsourcing and automation? How do I make sure my career will be ● sustainable not only today but in the five or ten years ahead? How can I survive professionally and ● economically in a world economy where products and services are increasingly faster, better and cheaper?
    6. Solutions Thomas Friedman suggests 4 solutions: ● Special talent (Bill Gates, Michael Jordan, – etc.) Specialized professionals (surgeons, etc.) – Spatial or system-bound workers (hair – stylists or civil servants) Serial skillers (self-learning people who can – quickly pick up new skills and adapt to new employment conditions)

Solutions Special talent - realistically, not many ● people have a worldclass talent Specialized professionals - still vulnerable ● to digitization and expert systems Spatial or system-bound workers - low ● wages or professionally bound by the system Serial skillers – exhausting, no leverage, ● little skill set synergy or long-term focus

Our solution Be unique and creative! ● “Discover your uniqueness and learn to ● exploit it in the service of others, and you will have success, happiness and prosperity.” - Larry Winget HOW do you discover your uniqueness? ● HOW do you become more creative and ● create solutions that employers or clients will pay for?

Ideal Career Framework (ICF) A multidimensional framework that takes ● into account the holistic nature of human capital A structured method for visualizing one's ● ideal career (and evaluating one's current career) Synthesis of dozens of books on personal ● development, spirituality, psychology, career counseling and strategic marketing
    10. Passion, talent, service & meaning What turns you on? ● What do you do better than other people? ● And with greater facility and grace? Who are you trying to serve and what is ● the solution you offer? What is the need for your solution or service? What do you believe in? ●
    11. Career transformation process ICF is not something people need. Most ● people need a job. ICF is something people want. Willpower ● and resolve are required. But not everybody is ready for ICF. ●
