4. Facebook Offers
Taking on the likes of Groupon and Living
Social, Facebook Offers is a beefed up
version of the Facebook Deals platform-
which was axed 9 months ago.
Facebook Offers is social posts sent to
news feeds of your brands fans. And as the
news feeds consume high real-estate, the
offers pushed through should see a
significant response rate...in theory of
course. They can also be promoted as
sponsored stories. But will Facebook Offers
really live up to its hype?
5. Creating Offers
To create an offer:
1.Go to your Page
2.From the sharing tool at the top of
your Page's timeline, click
Offer, Event + and then click Offer
3.Type a strong headline for your
offer, ex. "Buy one pair of socks, get
another pair free.“
6. Creating Offers
4.Upload a photo for your offer that
will stand out in thumbnail size
5.Choose to limit the number of
claims by clicking Unlimited and
selecting a number from the
dropdown
7. Creating Offers
6. Set an expiration date by clicking today's date and clicking a different day in the future
8. Creating Offers
7. Add terms and conditions of your
offer
8. Click Preview
9. Review what your offer will look
like, then click Post
If you want to make changes to your
offer when you're previewing it, click
Edit to go back and make changes.
9. Making Offers Successful
Every business is different, but these tips should help out
businesses small and large:
■ Make discounts substantial. Discounts should be at least
20% off regular prices. Additionally, offering things for free
performs better than discounts even if the percentage off is
the same implied value as the free item. For example, "Buy
one pair of socks, get another pair free."
■ Keep it simple. Describe your terms and conditions as
simply as possible, and don't require customers to perform
unusual activities.
10. Making Offers Successful
■ Use a clear and engaging image. Photos of people using your Offer Thumbnail Size
product typically perform better than photos of your product by
itself, and both of these generally perform better than your
business's logo. Keep in mind that your Page's profile picture will
also appear next to your offer in most places. Try not to use the
same photo for both. Additionally, make sure your photo looks
good when viewed at thumbnail size.
■ Keep language natural and direct. Make sure your headline
leads with the value of the offer instead of marketing slogans.
Avoid using unconventional capitalization or punctuation.

11. Making Offers Successful
■ Set a reasonable expiry date. Give people at
least a few days to see and claim an offer. Take
advantage of word-of-mouth promotion by
allowing time for your offer to be shared
between friends.
■ Promote your offer. Run sponsored stories
and pin your offer to the top of your Page so
people will notice it. We recommend re-sharing
an existing offer instead of creating the same
offer twice so it's easier to track how many
people are claiming it.
12. Redeeming Offers
To get and redeem an offer you see on
Facebook:
1. Click Get Offer below the offer's
headline to send it to the primary email
address associated with your Facebook
account.
2. Bring the email to the business offering
the deal and show it to the staff to
redeem the offer. You can show it in
printed form or on your mobile phone.
13. Creating Offers
We first heard of Offers late last year, when they
were just coupons. In fact, Facebook was actually
using the word “coupon” then but ended up
changing its language to “offer” instead.
So is this a direct attack on services like Groupon
and LivingSocial? I wouldn’t say a direct
attack, because the business model is very
different, but I do think Facebook is hoping for a
new revenue stream from coupons. After
all, Facebook is by no means monetizing Facebook
Pages as well as it could be.
