    • STANDARDS FOR CHURCH LEADERSINTRODUCTION:The word "bishop" means"overseer".
    • STANDARDS FOR CHURCH LEADERSINTRODUCTION:When we see this term weoften think of the pastorand other Godly leaders(council members,deacons, servant leaders)in the church.
    • STANDARDS FOR CHURCH LEADERSINTRODUCTION:Every church orcongregation needs GodlyLeadership that will guide,help them live godly lives.
    • STANDARDS FOR CHURCH LEADERSINTRODUCTION:But how do we selectChurch Leaders?
    • STANDARDS FOR CHURCH LEADERSINTRODUCTION: We thank God because we already have “Leadership Standards” found in the bible.
    • STANDARDS FOR CHURCH LEADERSINTRODUCTION:How do we know? We willknow them by their:
    • STANDARDS FOR CHURCH LEADERSI. BEHAVIOR - v. 1-3;v. 8, 9 & 10b – Deaconsmust have good behaviorand pure conscience
    • STANDARDS FOR CHURCH LEADERSI. BEHAVIOR - v. 1-3; V. 2 – “without fault” or “blameless” in other translation means “beyond reproach”.
    • STANDARDS FOR CHURCH LEADERSI. BEHAVIOR - v. 1-3; To be the husband of one wife is to be “a one-woman man”.
    • STANDARDS FOR CHURCH LEADERSI. BEHAVIOR - v. 1-3;To be the wife ofone husband is to bea “one-manwoman”.
    • STANDARDS FOR CHURCH LEADERSI. BEHAVIOR - v. 1-3;This quality shouldbe reflected in ourattitudes and ouractions.
    • STANDARDS FOR CHURCH LEADERSI. BEHAVIOR - v. 1-3;To be sober means isto be “vigilant” inhis behavior, actionsand demeanor.
    • STANDARDS FOR CHURCH LEADERSI. BEHAVIOR - v. 1-3;In this situation itwould refer to beingsober spiritually.
    • STANDARDS FOR CHURCH LEADERSI. BEHAVIOR - v. 1-3;A spiritually soberperson has “self-control”.
    • STANDARDS FOR CHURCH LEADERSI. BEHAVIOR - v. 1-3;The spiritually sober, self-controlled person is actually“under the control of theHoly Spirit”. Eph. 5:18.

    • STANDARDS FOR CHURCH LEADERSII. FAMILY - v. 4-5Elders/Leadersv.4 he must be able tomanage his own familywell and make his childrenobey him with all respect.
    • STANDARDS FOR CHURCH LEADERSII. FAMILY - v. 4-5Elders/Leadersv.5 For if a man does notknow how to manage hisown family, how can hetake care of the church ofGod?

    • STANDARDS FOR CHURCH LEADERSIII. EXPERIENCE - v.6v.6 - He must be MATUREIN THE FAITH, so that hewill not swell up withpride and be condemned,as the Devil was.
    • STANDARDS FOR CHURCH LEADERSIII. EXPERIENCE - v.10v.10 – Deacons must be“Tested and Proved” first
    • STANDARDS FOR CHURCH LEADERSIV. TESTIMONY - v.7V.7 - He should be a man who isrespected by the people OUTSIDEthe church, so that he will not bedisgraced and fall into the Devilstrap.
    • STANDARDS FOR CHURCH LEADERSCONCLUSION If the work of God isgoing to get done theremust be willing leaders,fellow workers. God hasgiven a special group ofservants to the church.

    • STANDARDS FOR CHURCH LEADERSCONCLUSIONIn the early church thesemen were "servants" whoassisted the elders oroverseers of the church.

    • STANDARDS FOR CHURCH LEADERSCONCLUSIONIn our church we need menwho follow in the footstepsof the original elders(leaders) & deacons.
