Media question 2

  1. 1. Q. 2How does your media product representparticular social groups?
  2. 2. My magazine aims to targeta more niche audience ofteenagers and young adultwho listen to a morealternative style of musicsuch as rock, folk, punk etc.
  3. 3. My magazine is verycolourful and loudwhich represents mytarget audiencesinterests. The vividcolour schemerepresents myaudience as beingrebellious and lively.
  4. 4. The collage designlayout of my magazinerepresents youth to bewild and reckless withno abandon, which is astereotypicalrepresentation.Themagazine reflects theirmessy and crazybehaviour and also thestereotype that theydon’t follow the rules.
  5. 5. My target audience is most likely teenagersand young adults. Because of this roles will belargely exaggerated to appeal and entertainmy audience. For example, the exaggeration ofthe bands lives and their personalities tointerest the audience. “World domination!”creates an impression of the magazine havinglots of action which would appeal to a youngeraudience.
  6. 6. This image represents thebands and artistswithin therock genre as wild andunruly, whilst also living thestereotypical‘rock starlifestyle.” the facialexpression suggests theyare rebellious and angrywhichalso comes across inthe genre’s music. Themask suggests that they aremysterious and createsintrigue for my audience.
  7. 7. This image represents the idea that myaudience are being disobedient and also thestereotype that teenagers and young adultsdon’t fit the frame and conformities of real lifeas they are unsure of their personality. This relates to the idea ofthe mask as teenagersand young adultsstill haven’t foundtheir identity.
  8. 8. The black and white colour schemeof the text and background withinmy contents page is a strong andstark contrast. This creates anatypicalrepresentation ofteenagers and young adults asbeing modern and sophisticated asthese colours are rather maturetogether. The colours are classicand simple which challenges thestereotype of young adults andteenagers being vivid and lively.
  9. 9. The masthead formy magazineis red and distorted whichrepresents the rock genre as being loud andchaotic. The name of my magazine‘Reckless’creates a stereotypical representation ofteenagers and young adults being wild andirresponsible. The font of my masthead is wildand disorderedwhich creates a stereotypicalrepresentationof teenagers and young adults.
