Standards <ul><li>California 8th Grade PE Standards </li></ul><ul><li>1.3 Demonstrate basic offensive and defensive skills and strategies in team physical activities. </li></ul><ul><li>1.4 Apply locomotor, nonlocomotor, and manipulative skills to team physical activities. </li></ul><ul><li>1.5 Demonstrate fundamental gymnastic/tumbling skills. </li></ul><ul><li>1.6 Create and perform a routine using fundamental gymnastic/tumbling skills, locomotor and nonlocomotor movement patterns, and the elements of speed, direction, and level. </li></ul>

Materials <ul><li>The students will need the following materials for this unit plan: </li></ul><ul><li>Footballs </li></ul><ul><li>Flag Football Belts </li></ul><ul><li>Cones </li></ul><ul><li>Handouts with Football Terminology </li></ul><ul><li>Proper clothing (shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, sport shorts, regular shoes) </li></ul><ul><li>Web Access </li></ul>
  4. 4. Day One <ul><li>Assessment day! </li></ul><ul><li>Have students break into teams and assess the skills of the students while they play uninstructed </li></ul><ul><li>Vary future skill drills and pre-test on ability level of the class. </li></ul>
  5. 5. Day Two <ul><li>Pre Test Day! </li></ul><ul><li>Students will take paper flag football test with multiple choice questions. </li></ul><ul><li>Students and teacher will discuss rules and terminology of flag football and partner grade the tests. </li></ul>
  6. 6. Day 3 <ul><li>Station Skill Day </li></ul><ul><li>Students will break into 5 teams and begin rotating throughout different passing, receiving and defensive drills. </li></ul><ul><li>Teacher will assess each students skill level and correct errors. </li></ul>
  7. 7. Day 4-7 <ul><li>GAME DAY! </li></ul><ul><li>Students Break into assigned teams and begin tournament. </li></ul><ul><li>Winners get a trophy! </li></ul>-
  8. 8. Day 8 <ul><li>Final Test </li></ul><ul><li>Students take final test in paper format and are graded 1-5 on knowledge level. </li></ul>
  9. 9. FLAG FOOTBALL CONCLUSION <ul><li>Students should have learned basic flag football skills. </li></ul><ul><li>They should have a knowledge of football terminology. </li></ul><ul><li>The next unit will be soccer! </li></ul>
