Kangaroo rats have
furry body with long,
thick tail
They have hind legs
like a kangaroo
A full grown Texas
Kangaroo Rat is as
long as 12 cm
But their tail is twice as
long as its body

Besides their physical adaptation that
have allowed them to minimize water
loss and survive and climates, kangaroo
rats have developed many behavioral
traits that have aided them in their
survival in xeric environments

These animals live in north Texas
They like living in clay soil supporting
sparse
Some also live in short grasses and
small scattered mesquite bushes
