  2. 2. What is the divorce? <ul><li>dissolution of marriage is the final termination of a marriage , canceling the legal duties and responsibilities of marriage and dissolving the bonds of matrimony between two persons. </li></ul>
  3. 3. Law for Canadian divorce -child support- <ul><li>Child support is not generally terminated when a child reaches 16 or even 18, however; the stage at which it is terminated and depends on the child ’ s own means of support and other circumstances </li></ul>
  4. 4. Negative impacts on children <ul><li>Children of all age groups tend to feel very scared and anxious during the divorce process. Divorce can have a long-term psychological impact on the minds of the children. </li></ul>

How does parental divorce affect the children ’ s personality? <ul><li>Stay away from any kind of social interaction </li></ul><ul><li>Becoming so immersed in their sad and lost world that they are not able to deal with the real world </li></ul><ul><li>Fear peer rejection and experience general feelings of fear during this time of crisis </li></ul>
  6. 6. Ways to Protect Children from Parental Divorce <ul><li>1. Never argue or discuss bitter personal issues in front of children </li></ul><ul><li>2. Do not involve the children in your fights or arguments </li></ul>
  7. 7. <ul><li>3. Always be there for your child in this time of crisis. </li></ul><ul><li>(It is important for you to reassure your child that divorce will only signify a change in living arrangement and not in your love for him or her) </li></ul>
  8. 8. <ul><li>4. Keep your child engaged in social or extra-curricular activities so that he or she has less time for engaging in negative thoughts </li></ul>
