This metadata includes information like when it was last updated, how often it usually changes, and how important it is, relative to other URLs in the site. Sitemap files are kept on the top directory of your website like http://techcupid.blogspot.com/atom.xml. Here I used atom.xml because Blogger platform provide this sitemap by default. For website owner, this will be replaced with sitemap.xml and they have to manually keep this file on their website in order to let search engine process it. Sitemap Usage: Sitemap is an easy way to inform search engines about pages available for crawling/indexing. The crawlers( search engines ) use this file to get inlinks( The links coming to your website) and outlinks( The links going to other website).
