LIFE  GROUP  STUDY  GUIDE   November  21,2010   1  Peter  2:4-­8     DIG:     Read  1  Peter  2:4-­5      What  does  it  mean  to  be  living  Stones  in  a  spiritual  house?    Peter  speaks  of  being  rejected  by  men  but  chosen  by  God.  How  do  you  see   that  truth  still  occurring  today?    What  does  the  verb  “being  built”  suggest  about  our  maturing?  How  are  you   experiencing  “being  built  up”  today?    Do  you  see  yourself  as  a  priest  of  God?  What  do  you  think  the  functions  of  a   Christian  priesthood?  How  does  it  work  in  your  Life  Group?       Read  1  Peter  2:6    What  is  the  purpose  of  the  cornerstone?      How  does  Jesus  function  as  the  cornerstone  for  you?    How  does  trusting  in  Jesus  mean  we  will  never  be  put  to  shame?       Read  1  Peter  2:7-­8    Peter  quotes  Isaiah  in  describing  Jesus  as  the  precious  and  chosen   cornerstone.    Think  of  a  parable  Jesus  gave  that  described  the  value  of  the   kingdom  of  heaven.    Is  there  anyone  in  this  Life  Group  that  at  one  time  rejected  Christ?  What  were   some  of  your  reasons  for  rejections?  What  changed  and  opened  your  heart  to   receive  Jesus?     APPLY    It  is  obvious  from  the  New  Testament  that  Jesus  wants  to  build  his  Church.   How  can  this  Life  Group  challenge  each  other  to  be  more  evangelistic?    Verses  2:4-­‐8  are  intimidating  scriptures  that  seem  almost  too  ideal  to  ever   attain.    Tonight  in  this  Life  Group,  share  some  practical  ways  to  make  these   verses  real  and  practical.
