and DESSERT!!! TWO BDAY CAKES FOR MUMMY. The cakes were from RITZ cakehouse. First, The TIRAMISU Review: It taste like tiramisu, not just watery or made out of cheap and DANG SWEET cream smothered on layers of sponge cake after adding artificial flavouring.
This has a lot of cream and at least the cream is alright, not your average cheap whipping cream, I think there was a hint of mascarpone cheese, but there were just too much and I think they could try harder on achieving that TIRAMISU taste.Ahhh well, I guess it is because there's no kalua and not much ladyfingers cause it is expensive. -Ladyfinger is a sweet génoise cake/biscuit-
Rating: 3.5/4 - Cut down on the cream and boost the taste, OMPH factor!!!
The GREEN TEA CAKE Review: It REALLY has that pure green tea taste, totally not artificial flavouring. I think there were green tea sprinkled on the cake. One of the layers is red beans. I think it is really something different and if you don't dislike green tea and love something light, I stronly recommend this. It is even at a resonable price, RM30+ for 1/2kg.
Overall Rating for Ritz Cakehouse and Pastries: 4/5 Because it definitely beats all the cakehouses in Penang Island and it is reasonable if you're looking for something cheaper, compared Starbucks, Secret Recipe, Coffee Bean, Manila, Baskin Robbins Ice Cream cake etc and they use fresh and quality ingredients.
-Ritz might not be able to compete on TASTE with the other fancier cakes from cafes, but it SURE BEATS SECRET RECIPE just has overpriced cakes that aren't yummy at all-
