  4. 4. Gaia gave birth to Pontus<br />
  5. 5. Then to Uranus who sent down rain to fertilise her<br />
  6. 6. Children – titans, Cyclopes, hecatonchires<br />
  7. 7. Uranus forced Gaia to keep children shut inside her<br />
  8. 8. Gaia persuaded Cronus to punish father – cut off genitals and threw them away<br />
  9. 9. Drops of blood fell on gaia and she conceived erinyes (furies)<br />
  10. 10. Genitals fell in ocean forming white foam – from this was born aphrodite<br />
  11. 11. Cronus freed siblings and became king. Took sister rhea as mate<br />
  12. 12. Foretold that cronus would be deposed by son. So swallowed children as soon as born<br />
  13. 13. Rhea tricked cronus by giving him stone rather than sixth child - zeus<br />
  14. 14. Zeus hidden from father and raised by nymphs<br />
  15. 15. When zeus became an adult he tricked cronus into drinking an emetic which made him vomit up children<br />
  16. 16. War – younger gods, cyclopes and hecatonchires against titans and cronus<br />
  17. 17. Gods won and titans imprisoned in tartarus<br />
  18. 18. Gaia angered – sent typhon<br />
