The date is unknown but estimated at around 60-70 AD
Its location was once at the House of the Dioscuri, Pompeii but is now currently in the Museo Nazionale, Naples.
Roughly 106cm high and 93cm wide.
It was thought that the painting was originally painted by the greek artist Nicias who lived in the second half of the 4th century BC
It is a typical Greek view of art because myhhical paintings were very popular.
Bland background to make the two more distinct Dark flesh tones Light flesh tones Slain sea monster Head of Medusa Muscular body
Colours
The background is really plain to make Perseus and Andromeda more obvious and put your focus on the two figures. Perseus has a dark skin tone while Andromeda is the opposite with light coloured skin to make her look more feminine. The background around them and the slain sea monster are quite faint so not to draw the attention away from Persues and Andromeda.
Persues and Andromeda are in the centre of the picture giving it a triangular shape
