Qualities of a Leader <ul><li>Leadership is not magnetic personality </li></ul><ul><li>Leadership is not making friends and influencing people </li></ul><ul><li>It is the lifting of a man’s vision to higher sights ,the raising of a man’s performance to a higher standard ,the building of a man’s personality beyond its normal limitations </li></ul><ul><li>Set strict principles of conduct and high standards of performance ,and respect people and their work </li></ul>
  3. 3. Crisis and Leadership <ul><li>The most important task of an organization’s leader is to anticipate crisis . Perhaps not to avert , but to anticipate it . To wait until crisis hits is abdication . You cannot prevent a major catastrophe ,but you can build an organization that is battle-ready ,that has high morale ,that knows how to behave ,that trusts itself and where people trust one another . </li></ul><ul><li>In military training , the first rule is to instill soldiers with trust in their officers ,because without trust they won’t fight . </li></ul><ul><li>Confront the major problems facing your organization .Communicate their essence frankly and fully . Gather support for taking the steps necessary to solve them </li></ul>

Purpose of a Business <ul><li>There is only one valid definition of business purpose : to create a customer </li></ul><ul><li>The customer is the foundation of a business and keeps it in existence .He alone gives employment . </li></ul><ul><li>Any business enterprise has two –and only two basic functions – marketing and innovation . These are the entrepreneurial functions . </li></ul><ul><li>Marketing is the distinguishing ,the unique function of business </li></ul>

Organizations and Individuals <ul><li>The more the organization grows in seriousness and integrity ,objectivity and competence ,the more scope there is for the individual to grow and develop as a person . </li></ul><ul><li>KEEP LEARNING . TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE OF YOUR COMPANY’S EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS </li></ul>
  6. 6. Base Leadership on Strength <ul><li>The effective executive knows that it is easier to raise the performance of one leader than it is to raise the performance of a whole mass . It is therefore important that into the leadership position ,into the standard setting ,the performance-making position ,the person has the strength to do the outstanding, the pace-setting job </li></ul><ul><li>TO RAISE THE PERFORMANCE OF A BUSINESS UNIT PUT A STRONG LEADER AT THE HELM </li></ul>

Drucker <ul><li>A top management thinker ,he is the author of more than 35 books , and his ideas have had an enormous impact in shaping the modern corporation . </li></ul><ul><li>He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2002 . </li></ul><ul><li>He was a writer , teacher ,philosopher , reporter and consultant , as well as professor at the Peter F.Drucker and Masatoshi Graduate School of Management ,Claremont Graduate University </li></ul>
