  1. 1. general information Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 died 1865 Terms In Office 1861-1865 March 4, 1865-April 15, 1865 Significant Acts Led the Union in the Civil War (1861-1865) to prevent the Southern states from seceding from the United States. Nickname ʻʼHonest Abe ʻʼ ʻʼillinois rail-Splitterʼʼ HIS FAMILY Abraham Lincoln had four children and his wife was named Mary Todd. One of Lincoln’s kids was named Robert Todd Lincoln, born August 1st ,1843. He died in 1926 but left behind two daughters and a son. His son died at the age of 16. Edward Baker Lincoln was another one of Lincoln’s sons who was born March 1846. Edward died quite young from tuberculosis. His third son, William Wallace Lincoln, was born in 1850 and sadly also died young. He got typhoid fever and passed away at only 11 years old! Thomas Lincoln was Lincoln’s fourth child, born in April 1853. HIS DEATH On April 14th, 1865, on Good Friday, Abraham Lincoln was shot in Washington DC in Ford’s Theatre while watching a play. He was shot by John Wilkes, who was an actor and thought he could help the South by shooting Lincoln.

Led the Union in the Civil War (1861-1865) to prevent the Southern states from seceding from the United States Issued the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863, abolishing slavery in states rebelling against the United States. Created a national banking system and standardized currency with the National Banking Act in February 1863.
