11. Pursuit of excellence
Pursuit of excellence has changed a lot over the
years. Because back in the ancient olympics
there weren't things like blades for people that
only had half a leg. Something else that wasn't
in the ancient olympics is the LZR Racer swim
suit which has given the athletes that use it a
huge advantage! This swim suit was created by
Speedo and NASA and it reduces skin fraction
drag by covering more skin then traditional
swim suits and allowing the person wearing it
to go faster. In 2008 athletes wearing the LZR
Racer broke 13 world records! The LZR Racer
has now been banned from the olympics
because it covered to much skin and gave the
athletes that wore it a huge advantage and it
wasn't fair on the athletes that didn't have one.

18. Oscar Pistorius
Oscar Pistorius is a South African sprint runner and is
known as the blade runner and the fasted man with no
legs. He holds the world record for T44 in the 100, 200
and 400 meters and uses Cheetah Flex-Foot carbon
fibre transtibial artificial limbs. In 2007 he took part in
his first international competitions for able-bodied
athletes but some people thought he had an unfair
advantage because of his blades. The same year the
International Association of Athletics Federations
banned lots of things like blades and stuff like that from
the olympics. Since things like blades were banned
from the olympics Oscar couldn't take part in them. In
2008 the decision was then reversed so Oscar could of
competed in the 2008 games he did not make the team.
But in 2012 Oscar competed in the olympics and
became the first double leg amputee to participate in
the olympic games. That's why I think Oscar Pistorius
is a great example of pursuit of excellence!

25. Boris Onishchenko
Boris Onishchenko was the
favourite to win the fencing
back in the 1976 olympic
games. He is also a good
example of an Olympic
cheater! To cheat at the
Olympics most people just take
drugs but Boris put a button
on his fencing sword and when
you push that button it adds a
point to the score board even if
it didn't touch his opponent!
Thats what I call cheating!
