  • 1. COLLEGEPROJECTS
  • 2. This project was especially designed for an interactive museum. It explains the basic principles of how an elevator works. It is fun and simple to use. One of the main objectives is to learn while playing. The elevator will only go up if the right amount of weight is placed on the donut platform. After each weight is placed on the platform the handle should be turned and if nothing happens more weight should be added until elevator goes up. • 4. This design had to be based on a concept from Colombia. I chose thepoisonous dart frogs of the Amazon. Both form and colors, as well asfunctions arose from this concept. The product was developed to performtwo parallel roles, cook rise and steam vegetables. Its an innovative productnot only in its use and easy manipulation but its appearance. It is a beautifulappliance that you can take to the dining table or leave at sight in the kitchenas part of the decoration. • 6. This product was specially designed for flower plantations where different amounts of light areneeded depending on the age of the plant. This system is operated by a computer softwareand can be adapted to particular needs. Here in Colombia there is no product that resemblesthis one. Illumination today is done with light bulbs hanging from wires and light is controlledwith black bags with holes on or near the light bulb. This system adjusts the lighting accordingto the program by closing or opening its arms, therefore the plants get more or less light. • 7. “Vulcano” is an interactive machine designed for “Explora”, a new museumin the city of Medellin. It simulates a volcanic eruption and the formationof mountains as a result. The idea with this machine was to learn throughcreative exploration, where fun interaction and playing take place. Vulcanohas 3 different phases: the first button activates an “earthquake”, theplatform moves and thunder sounds are heard. The second button(second phase) blows smoke from a smoke machine under the platform, this simulates the gases that emerge from a volcano before an eruption. The third and final phase is the volcanic eruption, which is simulated with 2different types of sand that separate when expelled and create layers asthey fall (one black, one white) the view that the person or the simulatorhas is one of a volcano cut through the middle. They want to upgradetheir products by giving them a classy, elegant image that people canrelate to; they hope this will help expand their business by selling tolarge supermarkets. The client wanted a low-cost and attractivepackage. This plastic Ziplock bag with integrated handle was bemodified to satisfy that specific requirement of low cost by removing thepunched handle and the bag instead of zip lock could be closed withheat. • 11. The flower combo’s main objective is to reach a specific segment in the flower shop businesses: women who do not like flower arrangements as gifts but do like flowers. Both this product and the next would be offered not only to flower delivery businesses so they could expand their product portfolio, but also to supermarkets that sell flowers (to add aggregated value or could be sold separately) and also to gift shops where people go to buy boxes or other packaging needs. • 12. Both of these products are designed to facilitate transportation and handling and are easy to assemble and carry around in your hands or in your car. They will embellish the bouquet not only because of the package but the beautiful graphic design on the exterior. One of the main objectives is to protect the flowers from deterioration, each box has special hole punches for the flower and leaf breathing and to water when necessary. Another important detail is that the flowers are always enclosed to avoid strokes, bangs and flower bulb detachment. • 13. This protective mesh sleeve is a new design proposal for bathroom ceramics packaging. It offersmore protection for the ceramic products against fractures and/ or scratching, which happensregularly during transportation and generates high transit costs. This mesh is being used aroundthe world but is yet to be implemented in Colombia. This is an adaptation designed by me forCompañía de Empaques. This new packing system also reduces packaging times because iteliminates the need for box assembly. Which is not only tedious but uses other materials likeglue, staples, and cardboard dividers. • 14. Many companies are trying to help preserve the environment by creating eco-friendly products. At Compañía de Empaques we saw a great opportunity of contributing to this great cause by giving people the option of not using plastic bags when grocery shopping. This eco-bag is made out of Fique (Colombias Natural Fiber) 100 % Biodegradable, so it will not pollute when thrown away. Because the fiber is something traditional we wanted the image to evoke our native crafts, this is why the image concept is based on Molas, (an artisan technique), Arhuacan print, and ancestral drawing. There are three different catchy phrases to motivate the buy.PROJECT YEAR: 2008ECOLOGIC BAGS EXPERTISE: PACKAGE DESIGN / GRAPHIC DESIGNFOR SUPERMARKETS PROJECTS : ECOLOGIC GROCERY BAG / NATURAL FIBERS CLIENT: ALMACENES EXITO
  • 15. These bags were also designed as an alternative forpackaging in stores. Not only do they pollute lessbecause its main material is fique, but are beautiful anduseful. After purchasing products in any kind of store, people can use these bags as backpacks or purses. There are different designs, so every store can adaptany one to their individual needs, style, color andgraphic language and logo. Comapñía de Empaquesonly offered one outdated style, so I refreshed theirproduct portafolio with a whole new set of opportunitiesfor this particular product. • 21. This proposal is inspired by the iris diaphragm mechanism in old cameras. This mechanism transformed in a more graphic way that can be related to the initial idea and making it producible. The bottle opens and closes when turning the cap one way or the other. This mechanism resembles the one that some powder bottles have. When the hole align it is possible for the product to come out. This bottle also was inspired by the optical zoom lens that cameras have, providing the bottle an easy grip to hold it and a texture to prevent the bottle from sliding when used inside the shower and in contact with water. This mechanism is translated into a graphic so that other bottles belonging to the same family but with a different shape can be seen and identified as a whole. YEAR: 2009PROJECT EXPERTISE: PACKAGE DESIGN / GRAPHIC DESINGSHAMPOO BOTTLE PROJECT: BOTTLE DESING/ SET SIGNITURE CLIENT: NIVEA
  • 22. This proposal is inspired by building and technology which have moment and shapes one over the other. The bottle is very simple but very masculine and the plus of this bottle like the one before is the innovative opening and closing mechanism. The cap slides to the left or to the right were you can find to different size dispensing holes, one for more quantity and the other for less. It’s a very simple mechanism that can be achieved easily with no excess costs. This bottle has two identification faces one is the embossed texture on each of the sides for easy grip and the other is the innovative mechanism and movement of the cap. • 23. This packaging for le verdure del mio orto was inspired on the beehives because of their geometric shape and because of their capacity to store and separate o different compartments. This packaging has the ability to store fruits and vegetables according to the needs of each specific costumer. It has inner divisions that protect and separate fruits this separator can be arranged around the fruits as needed it can be cardboard and after each use it is thrown away. The rest of the box can be used several times. Another important feature is that its bottom collapses to allow easier and less costly transportation. The die cut on the box allow the fruits an vegetables to breath and condensation to migrate from the box, this way the product is conserved better YEAR: 2009PROJECT EXPERTISE: PACKAGE DESIGN / GRAPHIC DESINGORGANIC GROSERY  PROJECT: LINNEN PACKAGEPACKAGING CLIENT: LE VERDURE DEL MIO ORTO

  • 25. This is a set of pots and pans The innovative features of this product is that they can all bestored by putting one inside the other. This can be done because the handle is removableand can be used from one pot to the other. This gives the user a great advantage easy, fast, and efficient use of space. The package on the other hand is reusable. After it fufillsits use os a package it can be cut into 3 different pieces that can be used around thekitchen, 2 pot holders and one place mat for hot pans. • 27. The label for this bottle was to be designed for a High end Wine from Chile to be sold at duty free stores and tourist souvenir shops. One of Chile icons was chosen the Easter Island Moais and used for the graphs of the label. A bit distortioned and with a Picasso feel to it younger targets would be the target. It feels fresh new and elegant. The bottle was also picked to resemble the sculptures that stand tall long and slim. Not many Wine bottles like this one are found in the market so this feature makes the bottle stand out in a shelf were the rest have the same shape. Because of this shape of the bottle the final label was picked a 2 piece label that fill the bottle perfectly and helps elongate the shape even more.
