Slideshow Transcript

  1. Slide 1: Punctuation Commas
  2. Slide 2: Contrasts A comma can show where there are opposites in a sentence, especially when written in phrase form. The tutor was very friendly, not mean and scary the way Peta expected. The students wanted to write a research paper, but the tutor had asked for a short story.
  3. Slide 3: Speech A comma is used at the end of sentences when people are speaking as there will be a full stop later on. “We can’t eat till lunchtime,” his mother said, “but we set the table.” “This is my favourite story,” Peta told her tutor.
  4. Slide 4: Warning! • Be careful, not to, overuse, commas, because, it is so, hard to read, just like. Full stops. • Revise this PowerPoint and the one from last week to prepare for the punctuation test.
