    • To be the best option in helping people with a learning disability to be more independent and have more control over their own money

    • Dosh has been set up to provide financial
    • advocacy support
    • Dosh helps people with a learning
    • disability to be more independent and
    • have more control over their own money
    • Dosh is set up as a not-profit company.
    • This means that all money earned by the
    • company is used to run the business and
    • provide good quality financial support to
    • people with a learning disability
  • 4. Dosh - Aims
    • Strategic Aims:
    • To engage with and value our customers so we are the preferred choice for Financial Advocacy and Appointeeship for people with learning disabilities
    • To build and maintain strong financial foundations and systems that ensure added value for our customers, while ensuring financial stability for Dosh
    • To develop our range of products and services to meet the needs of our customers and the personalisation agenda
    • To develop our response times for customer requests and demands which will meet our Key Performance Indicators
    • To develop the role of Financial Advocacy
  • 5. What Dosh Financial Advocacy do:
    • Develop personal budgets and money plans and helping people work through them.
    • Support people to learn new skills and understand money concepts
    • Join a person’s circle of support
    • Support people with and provide account management for their Individual Budget or Individual Support Fund or Direct Payment
    • Do a welfare benefits assessments in someone’s home
    • Offering the support needed for the person to manage their own benefits
    • Checking people’s money is safe
    • Support the person to open a bank account and set up payments
    • Becoming a ‘person centred’ appointee ensuring all decisions are made with them in line with the MCA
  • 6. Dosh works in partnership with other Care and Support Providers
    • Dosh is an independent company
    • within the Thera Group.
    • Dosh can continue to provide financial
    • support when a Thera Company no longer
    • provides a person’s care and support
    • Currently we work in partnership with
    • 8 x care and support providers
    • Dosh also works in partnership with local authorities, PCTs and families
  • 7. Dosh - how we work
    • To give you an idea of the services Dosh would be able to provide through a Person Centred Appointeeship, I have listed the following:
    • The administration and claiming of individual’s benefits
    • Appealing Benefit decisions if required
    • Welfare Benefit Assessments
    • Liaison with the previous customers Appointee to relinquish and start appointeeship
    • Access to Dosh suite of Assessment and Money Plan forms such as Money Plans
    • Access to Internet Banking – Bacs payments
    • Best Interest Decision form and process – coordination for major purchases
    • (if people do not already have bank accounts) Individual Dosh (Barclays) bank accounts
    • Support with Direct Debits and Standing Orders for their utility bills
    • Assistance with Fairer Charging assessments
    • To be a member of the customer’s Circle of Support  
    • A ‘Named Person’ (a local representative that is both a Financial Advocate and carries out the role of Appointee)
    • A local Dosh representative (attending reviews, meeting with Circles of Support, responding to emergencies which require a personalised quick response)
    • Dosh’s MD - I am involved in clearing Best Interest Decisions, authorisation of internet bank payments etc
    • Dosh Financial Administrator and Dosh Administrators who provide back office support for our customers
    • Internet Banking facilities and Docuware – electronic administrative software

  • 8. Dosh - how we monitor our performance
    • Key Performance Indicators – each team member including the MD has a set of KPIs they report on to the Dosh Board and other stakeholders
    • An annual internal audit by independent auditors
    • An annual external audit by independent auditors
    • Dosh Business Plan – Strategic Aims and Objectives
    • Dosh Spreadsheets which record our performance for Bank Statements, Benefit notifications, Payments and Best Interest Decisions (BIDs)
    • Customer Feedback – Meetings and Presentations

    • Appointeeship with Advocacy
    • Dosh are members of a person’s circle of support
    • Financial Standards set by adults with learning disabilities
    • Dosh publishes a bi- monthly newsletter and benefits news pack
    • Dosh has local representatives that regularly visit and work with individuals
    • We can provide continuity when care and support providers change
    • We can provide continuity when individual and private brokers/support assistants leave
    • Dosh do not have a conflict of interest
    • Dosh are experienced in Account Management for Direct Payments, IBs and ISFs
  • 11. Dosh is in the business of continuous improvement
    • Financial Standards designed by adults with learning disabilities – Dosh will work and report to these
    • Will set new challenging KPIs and work to improve on the targets and performance of current KPIs
    • Will consider new types of support
    • Will find ways to make their current ISF and IB contracts more person centred.
    • Will enhance the accessibility of their current tools and products
    • We aim to give a ‘wow’ factor each month which introduces something new and gives added value to the people we support
