3. About SABR
SABR was founded in 1971 in Cooperstown, New York,
home of Baseball’s Hall of Fame. It has more than 6,000
members, the vast majority of which are very knowledgable
baseball fans. If there’s any single characteristic that’s
shared by all members of SABR, it’s a love of the game.
SABR has more than a dozen research committees that
reflect the diversity of members’ interests, including a
committee on statistical analysis that helps members
understand the sometimes bewildering blizzard of stats
that accompany every game. In addition, there is a
committee on “women in baseball” and “dead ball era,”
among others.
