  5. 5. Get your hands dirty from day 1 Minimise initial costs by turning your hand to everything
  6. 6. Don't compete on price Seek to enhance the customer experience instead
  7. 7. Listen to your customers This allowed Chris Allen and his team to double profits
  8. 8. Build a strong team of individuals Ideally individuals who are brighter than you are
  9. 9. Always look for new ways of doing things Encourage a quot;this may sound stupid but...quot; environment
  10. 10. Network and share your ideas This is how laterooms.com became technically possible
  11. 11. Cash Customers Team Focusing on all 3 is crucial for success
  12. 12. Handle leadership change with care Transition new leaders gradualy to maintain a steady ship
  13. 13. Find business partners and investors who are equally passionate about your business Your first suitor may not be your final partner
  14. 14. Maintain a journal To record your successes (and failures!)
