  • 2. What is Nutrition?• Nutrition is the scientific study of food and drink.• Think of nutrition as describing what makes up food or drink.
  • 3. Why are nutrients important to you?• Nutrients help your body work its best every day.• Nutrients help your brain perform its best!

  • 5. How do I know what foods have the best nutrients in them?• All food items should contain a nutrition label on the package.It should look somethinglike this
  • 6. What is sodium?• Sodium is a mineral found in many foods.• Salt is the main source of sodium in many foods.
  • 7. Effects of too much sodium• Too much sodium can lead to high blood pressure.• This will make your heart work harder to keep up with your body.• You should only eat 2,300 mg or less of sodium per day.
  • 8. Saturated fat? What is that?• Saturated fat is the “bad” fat.• It is more likely to stick to all of your organs and cause problems in your body.
  • 9. Is all fat bad for me?• No!!• Unsaturated fat is the “good” fat.• Check the nutrition label to see what fat is in your snacks.
  • 10. How much saturated fat is ok to eat?• You should only eat or drink 16 – 20 grams of saturated fat per day.
