• The first time the Proteus software is run, a system check is performed to insure that the computer has the minimum resources to adequately perform the Proteus tours. This check only runs once unless the system has been changed. After repeated use, the first part of the Proteus software that the user encounters is the TOUR SELECTION WINDOW - sketched below. This window displays tours which are available to the Explorer at the moment. If web connected, this window also displays Tours which have updates, new FREE tours, and new fee based tours available from the Proteus Explorer Web-site. For the purpose of this storyboard, the Explorer has chosen the Mesozoic Era Simulator destination tour or nicknamed "T-rex-ville".
• All tours are framed within the Proteus Space Exploration over-arching storyline which ties into the future development of nationwide Proteus location based entertainment sites. These sites will house theming and full motion base flight simulator like touring pods networked to web based Proteus users, or Explorers. The tours present the user in a spacecraft departing an orbiting space station en-route to their selected tour destination on an Earth colonized planet. The start and end sequences of the Proteus tours represent the short 10-30 second simulated space flights to and from these locations. The various Proteus tours are designed to represent future amusement destinations within or on the surface of the colonized planet developed by Earth based companies. Every time a Proteus Explorer selects a tour, even the same tour, the departure and return flight sequences will be slightly different. Depending on the tour destination, the Explorer’s spacecraft will enter within the planet or to surface location to begin the tour. The next slide depicts the continuation of the storyboards for this Mesozoic Era Simulator tour.
• The tours path is controlled by the “voice over” or narrator, however the user can optionally move their mouse left or right or up and down to look at any object in the 3D world. Optionally the user can zoom in or out with the mouse buttons or keyboard arrow keys. Additionally, sometimes tour path choices display on the screen and the user can optionally select which part of the tour they would like to see. ==== Tour path selection is simulated in these storyboards. The system will always return the users viewing direction and zoom back to optimal settings when the mouse and keyboard input has been dormant for a length of time.
• The sample video shown in this storyboard captures both the quality of the type of real-time computer graphics gaming technology that will be employed in Proteus tours, as well as depicting one of the proposed tours, called the “Mesozoic Era Simulator”. Imagine being able to glance left and right, or zooming in and out to focus at specific creatures in the scene, while being “driven around this pre-historic earth world. At certain points during a tour, the narrator will point out tour path choices the user can make, appealing to different interests. For example, some choices may be “search for the nearest predator getting their “lunch”” or “find the nearest T-Rex on the move”. The tour path choices interaction was depicted in the previous storyboard slide.
• These next sets of storyboards all contain 3D computer graphics stills of potential contents for Proteus tours. The “7 Ancient Wonders” tour depicted here may begin with the origins of the ancient list of 7 wonders and it’s author. Tour branches may include detail examinations of each of the wonders depicting where they would be located today if they survived, how they were constructed and how they were destroyed.
• First Packaged Release will have 6 worlds with 6-10 initial tours of 6 minutes each = 36 to 60 tours x 6 minutes each = 216 - 360 minutes or 3.6 – 6 hours
• First Packaged Release will have 6 worlds with 6-10 initial tours of 6 minutes each = 36 to 60 tours x 6 minutes each = 216 - 360 minutes or 3.6 – 6 hours
• Software has to show-off nVidia graphics and represent a wide appeal software title
