The reason I have included this question in my questionnaire and why I have included it as the first few questions is because I
wanted to know what the target audience of my magazine would like to see and read about.
My results show clearly that the main target audience are 16-25 year olds as on the graph above you can clearly see that the majority of
the people who answered my questionnaire are around a similar age group whereas the other five people who also answered the
questionnaire are older, but they do also fit into the target audience. This then means that the research and the results show that most
teenagers would read this and some young adults this will then help me be able to plan what my magazine will have to include and as I
know clearly what the age group for my magazine is I will then know whether to include some things or to not include things as older
people around the age of 30 may not be interested in things 16-20 year olds are.

The reason I have asked this question in my questionnaire is so that I can see how much my target audience will be willing to pay for this
magazine. My results show that the people who I asked to fill in my questionnaire have gone for a variety of prices from 99p-£4.00. The
bar which is the tallest which 9 people have chosen is the price range £2.00-£2.99. This then gives me an idea of how much people will
be willing to pay for my magazine. The results I have drawn from this graph is that more people would rather pay less for the magazine
and as it is aimed at younger people they won’t have as much money to spend on magazines that are over £4.00 whereas if my
magazine was aimed at readers who are willing to pay over £4.00 this shows that they have more money to spend on magazines as they
may be older with better jobs and more money to spend on magazines. The research for the price of the magazine was useful so that I
knew exactly how much people would be willing to pay for the magazine and from my bar graph I can see the price ranges which people
who I asked to answer this questionnaire would be willing to pay.

I have asked this question so I would know the frequency of publication whether readers would be willing to buy a magazine
every day, every week, every other week or every month. This would help decide on the size of the issue whether it will be a big
issue as it may be published every month so there would be a lot of things having to be included to keep up to date with what is
happening. I also asked this question because it tells me how often readers of this target audience would like to read a music
magazine this shows how much spare time readers may have as it tells you a lot about them asking how frequently they would
buy them. My results show that most of the people who answered my questionnaire would either want the magazine to be
published every week so they are able to buy them every week or every month. The results will help me with planning because
seeing how often my target audience would be willing to buy the magazine it changes the price of the magazine, how many
feature articles need to be included and how big the magazine needs to be. The research for this question was useful as it tells
clearly how often this magazine will be published and how often my target audience want to buy it.

I have asked this question in my questionnaire because if I find out what other types of magazines my target audience read it will tell
me what the readers are like and what they like just to see if they fit in with my target audience. My results show that the majority
of the people who answered my questionnaire also read NME and this genre of magazine is similar to my music magazine idea
genre. The research and results will help me with my planning because I will know what other magazines my target audience read as
the genres of them, this will help me with what genre I could also include and what artists/ bands / music to include. The research
was useful as even though there was a variety of music magazines that had been chosen there is one magazine which the bar is
higher and 5 people have chosen this, so the results on this graph tell me which other music magazine is read most by my target
audience.

I have asked the question ‘What content would you prefer to read about?’ so that I know what my target audience would like to
read about the most. I think by asking this question on my questionnaire it gives me an idea of what my target audience would like
to know more about. My results show that the people who answered my questionnaire all would want reviews to be the main
content in the magazine but also the amount of people who have wanted to read about articles and interviews and quizzes and
games are also quite high. The results on this graph help me with my planning because I now know what content my target audience
would like to read the most, rather than including a double page spread on interviews, finding out that the readers would rather see
a review or even having the main story as a interview when my readers would want there to be a review. Having this question in my
questionnaire makes it a lot easier to know what to include and It helps me planning because I now what to include more of and
what not to include.

I have asked this question so that I have an idea on what colours to use on my magazine. My results show that the most popular colour
that is associated with the genre Indie Rock is red and as this colour is the most popular I now have an idea what colour scheme to use all
the way through. The research and results will help me with my planning because I now have an idea of what colour people associate
with this genre, so I now have an idea of what colour scheme and I know what colours to not use. The research for this question was
useful but not the most useful out of them all, it helps because this means I have some idea on what colours people associate with the
genre not just what I would associate.

I have asked this question, like I have asked the question about the colours associated. The reason I have asked this is so that my
target audience give me an idea of what font they personally think is associated with this genre. My research shows that FONT 2 is
the most popular the results from this graph will tell me what font is the most popular and which one isn’t. This will help me in my
planning for the magazine as I will now know what font my target audience would prefer and associate more with this genre. The
research for this question was useful as I now have a better idea of what other people would associate with this genre not only what
I think.

I have asked this question in my questionnaire so that I have an idea of how my target audience would want the magazine whether it is
more images than text or more text then images. My results on the pie chart show me what the people I asked in my questionnaire
wanted the layout to be like. And my results show that my target audience would prefer there to be more images in the magazine than
text. The results will help me with my magazine because I will now have an idea of what to include in my magazine. The research for this
question is useful as the target audience for this magazine have told me what they would like to see more of and less of, this helps for my
planning of my DPS and contents page.

I have asked this question in my questionnaire s so I know what my target audience would like to get free with the magazine
because sometimes people buy the magazine for the incentive as well as the stories included. My results show that buyers of
this magazine would like free posters with most magazines but CD’s and clothing is the same. My results show me that my
target audience would like free posters with the magazines this tells you a lot about the age range of the people who chose
Posters in these questionnaires as younger people are more likely to want to get free posters as teenagers tend to use them
more than they would a CD as now a days teenagers use iPod to listen to music and they buy online rather than listen to CD’s.
My research and results will help me planning as I will now know what to include on my cover to bring the buyers of my target
audience in and as they may be posters quite a lot I now know that my target audience like. The research was useful as I now
know what incentives my target audience like.

I have asked this question in my questionnaire because by having this question in my questionnaire I can then find out if my readers/
target audience actually would want this included in the magazine. My results show that the majority of the people I asked in my
questionnaire would want quizzes and games included. This then gives me an idea of what to put in the magazine for the readers to also
enjoy as a little extra. The research for this question was useful as it gives me an idea of what the target audience for the magazine
like, whether they would want the quizzes and games in the magazine or whether they wouldn’t want them in there, if they would
prefer to read other stories/reviews or interviews.

I have asked this question because I wanted to find out if most readers of my target audience listen to music all of the time or hardly ever
and my results from my questionnaires show me that the people I asked to do my questionnaire do listen to music a lot so this would then
give them more reason to actually be interested in buying the magazine. The research and results will help me with my planning because I
now know that my target audiences all listen to music of not all the time, most of the time but never ‘never’. The research was useful as I
now know for definite that the target audience for the magazine do listen to music so this would help the content within the magazine and
that people will purchase the magazine if not all the time, most of the time.

I have included this question in my questionnaire as I thought it would be interesting to see how many people I have asked to
complete my questionnaire who buy CD’s or listen to it online but also buy it online. This shows that some people would prefer to
have the magazine online if they listen to music online/ buy it online. Whereas If my target audience would rather buy a CD this then
tells me that they perhaps would want the magazine to read. My results from my questionnaire show that also of people which I
asked to do my questionnaire they do buy music and listen and download it online. This then makes the research for this question
useful but not useful, as it is useful in the way that some people actually spend money on CD’s like they would do a magazine but it
is also not very useful as it is just a question to follow on with the one before that. It is also not as useful as the other questions as

Audience Research

How old are you? 16 14 12 10 8 6 4 2 0 16-20 21-25 26-30 31-35 36-40 40+ The reason I have included this question in my questionnaire and why I have included it as the first few questions is because I wanted to know what the target audience of my magazine would like to see and read about. My results show clearly that the main target audience are 16-25 year olds as on the graph above you can clearly see that the majority of the people who answered my questionnaire are around a similar age group whereas the other five people who also answered the questionnaire are older, but they do also fit into the target audience. This then means that the research and the results show that most teenagers would read this and some young adults this will then help me be able to plan what my magazine will have to include and as I know clearly what the age group for my magazine is I will then know whether to include some things or to not include things as older people around the age of 30 may not be interested in things 16-20 year olds are.
  • 3. How much would you be willing to pay for the magazine? 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0 99p-£1.99 £2.00-£2.99 £3.00-£3.99 £4.00+ The reason I have asked this question in my questionnaire is so that I can see how much my target audience will be willing to pay for this magazine. My results show that the people who I asked to fill in my questionnaire have gone for a variety of prices from 99p-£4.00. The bar which is the tallest which 9 people have chosen is the price range £2.00-£2.99. This then gives me an idea of how much people will be willing to pay for my magazine. The results I have drawn from this graph is that more people would rather pay less for the magazine and as it is aimed at younger people they won’t have as much money to spend on magazines that are over £4.00 whereas if my magazine was aimed at readers who are willing to pay over £4.00 this shows that they have more money to spend on magazines as they may be older with better jobs and more money to spend on magazines. The research for the price of the magazine was useful so that I knew exactly how much people would be willing to pay for the magazine and from my bar graph I can see the price ranges which people who I asked to answer this questionnaire would be willing to pay.
  • 4. How often would you buy the magazine? 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0 Every day Every week Every other week Every month I have asked this question so I would know the frequency of publication whether readers would be willing to buy a magazine every day, every week, every other week or every month. This would help decide on the size of the issue whether it will be a big issue as it may be published every month so there would be a lot of things having to be included to keep up to date with what is happening. I also asked this question because it tells me how often readers of this target audience would like to read a music magazine this shows how much spare time readers may have as it tells you a lot about them asking how frequently they would buy them. My results show that most of the people who answered my questionnaire would either want the magazine to be published every week so they are able to buy them every week or every month. The results will help me with planning because seeing how often my target audience would be willing to buy the magazine it changes the price of the magazine, how many feature articles need to be included and how big the magazine needs to be. The research for this question was useful as it tells clearly how often this magazine will be published and how often my target audience want to buy it.

What music magazines do you read? 6 5 4 3 2 1 0 Kerrang NME Q DJ Classic Pop Uncut Vibe Other I have asked this question in my questionnaire because if I find out what other types of magazines my target audience read it will tell me what the readers are like and what they like just to see if they fit in with my target audience. My results show that the majority of the people who answered my questionnaire also read NME and this genre of magazine is similar to my music magazine idea genre. The research and results will help me with my planning because I will know what other magazines my target audience read as the genres of them, this will help me with what genre I could also include and what artists/ bands / music to include. The research was useful as even though there was a variety of music magazines that had been chosen there is one magazine which the bar is higher and 5 people have chosen this, so the results on this graph tell me which other music magazine is read most by my target audience.
  • 6. What content would you prefer to read about? 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0 Interviews Articles Reviews Quizzes & Games Other I have asked the question ‘What content would you prefer to read about?’ so that I know what my target audience would like to read about the most. I think by asking this question on my questionnaire it gives me an idea of what my target audience would like to know more about. My results show that the people who answered my questionnaire all would want reviews to be the main content in the magazine but also the amount of people who have wanted to read about articles and interviews and quizzes and games are also quite high. The results on this graph help me with my planning because I now know what content my target audience would like to read the most, rather than including a double page spread on interviews, finding out that the readers would rather see a review or even having the main story as a interview when my readers would want there to be a review. Having this question in my questionnaire makes it a lot easier to know what to include and It helps me planning because I now what to include more of and what not to include.

What colours do you associate with the genre Indie Rock? 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0 Black Yellow Pink Red Orange Blue Other I have asked this question so that I have an idea on what colours to use on my magazine. My results show that the most popular colour that is associated with the genre Indie Rock is red and as this colour is the most popular I now have an idea what colour scheme to use all the way through. The research and results will help me with my planning because I now have an idea of what colour people associate with this genre, so I now have an idea of what colour scheme and I know what colours to not use. The research for this question was useful but not the most useful out of them all, it helps because this means I have some idea on what colours people associate with the genre not just what I would associate.
  • 8. What font do you associate with the genre Indie Rock? 16 14 12 10 8 6 4 2 0 FONT A FONT B FONT C FONT D FONT E I have asked this question, like I have asked the question about the colours associated. The reason I have asked this is so that my target audience give me an idea of what font they personally think is associated with this genre. My research shows that FONT 2 is the most popular the results from this graph will tell me what font is the most popular and which one isn’t. This will help me in my planning for the magazine as I will now know what font my target audience would prefer and associate more with this genre. The research for this question was useful as I now have a better idea of what other people would associate with this genre not only what I think.

Would you rather there be more text than images or more images than text? 5 More images more text 15 I have asked this question in my questionnaire so that I have an idea of how my target audience would want the magazine whether it is more images than text or more text then images. My results on the pie chart show me what the people I asked in my questionnaire wanted the layout to be like. And my results show that my target audience would prefer there to be more images in the magazine than text. The results will help me with my magazine because I will now have an idea of what to include in my magazine. The research for this question is useful as the target audience for this magazine have told me what they would like to see more of and less of, this helps for my planning of my DPS and contents page.

What incentives do you prefer? 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0 CD Posters Clothing Other I have asked this question in my questionnaire s so I know what my target audience would like to get free with the magazine because sometimes people buy the magazine for the incentive as well as the stories included. My results show that buyers of this magazine would like free posters with most magazines but CD’s and clothing is the same. My results show me that my target audience would like free posters with the magazines this tells you a lot about the age range of the people who chose Posters in these questionnaires as younger people are more likely to want to get free posters as teenagers tend to use them more than they would a CD as now a days teenagers use iPod to listen to music and they buy online rather than listen to CD’s. My research and results will help me planning as I will now know what to include on my cover to bring the buyers of my target audience in and as they may be posters quite a lot I now know that my target audience like. The research was useful as I now know what incentives my target audience like.

Would you want quizzes or games in the magazine? 8 YES NO 12 I have asked this question in my questionnaire because by having this question in my questionnaire I can then find out if my readers/ target audience actually would want this included in the magazine. My results show that the majority of the people I asked in my questionnaire would want quizzes and games included. This then gives me an idea of what to put in the magazine for the readers to also enjoy as a little extra. The research for this question was useful as it gives me an idea of what the target audience for the magazine like, whether they would want the quizzes and games in the magazine or whether they wouldn’t want them in there, if they would prefer to read other stories/reviews or interviews.

How often do you listen to music? 14 12 10 8 6 4 2 0 All the time Most of the time Sometimes Never I have asked this question because I wanted to find out if most readers of my target audience listen to music all of the time or hardly ever and my results from my questionnaires show me that the people I asked to do my questionnaire do listen to music a lot so this would then give them more reason to actually be interested in buying the magazine. The research and results will help me with my planning because I now know that my target audiences all listen to music of not all the time, most of the time but never ‘never’. The research was useful as I now know for definite that the target audience for the magazine do listen to music so this would help the content within the magazine and that people will purchase the magazine if not all the time, most of the time.

How often do you buy CD’s or music online? 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0 All the time Most of the time Sometimes Never I have included this question in my questionnaire as I thought it would be interesting to see how many people I have asked to complete my questionnaire who buy CD’s or listen to it online but also buy it online. This shows that some people would prefer to have the magazine online if they listen to music online/ buy it online. Whereas If my target audience would rather buy a CD this then tells me that they perhaps would want the magazine to read. My results from my questionnaire show that also of people which I asked to do my questionnaire they do buy music and listen and download it online. This then makes the research for this question useful but not useful, as it is useful in the way that some people actually spend money on CD’s like they would do a magazine but it is also not very useful as it is just a question to follow on with the one before that.
